I feel like this is really late, but I actually planned to answer these in October so it’s not really late at all! I am annoyed that I just can’t make this a monthly feature, but oh well. Let’s finally answer these questions!
What’s the most unflattering image you think there is about Amsterdam?
Hmm I think you mean reputation wise? I guess that we’re all on drugs or something haha. Also let me introduce you to this wonderful video that was made in response to Fox News it’s hilarious:
Yeah it’s not a mess guys. It really isn’t.
Do you get have any bother by a person using a preference of Holland over the Netherlands?
Not really. I mean a lot of us say ‘Holland’ instead of ‘Nederland’ a lot of the time as well.
Do you cycle?
Okay this is not something I usually talk about because people in The Netherlands will give you a really weird look and usually laugh at you when you tell them but… I’m afraid to cycle. Yep. I don’t know how to ride a bike because it scares me. Especially the thought of riding one in a busy city like Amsterdam, no thank you. But seriously, it’s so normal to be able to ride a bike that people think it’s crazy when you can’t so I always feel uncomfortable when the topic is brought up and I know I might have to explain that I can’t ride a bike.

Oh and Zaandam is also really fun to visit! It’s really close to Amsterdam so if you’re in Amsterdam you can just take the train and you’ll be there in like ten minutes or less (depending on where in the city you’re leaving from of course)

Stroopwafels, a.k.a. the love of my life

Pepernoten

BUT SERIOUSLY GET THESE CHOCOLATE COVERED GOODIES INSTEAD
When I was little my mom and I ran into this Dutch girl group at the McDonalds and I got their autograph #score
How would you describe each season, in terms of weather and how people respond (by actions/attitude/clothing choices) to the weather?
Summer: people tend to complain that ‘we haven’t had a good Summer in years!!’ but honestly do we ever get a good Summer?? I don’t remember ever experiencing a ‘good Summer’. It still rains a lot. If we do get warm weather, the day will usually end in rain and thunder and misery. And usually when it gets warm it’s suffocatingly hot and just not pleasant. Also more hay fever yay.
Autumn: Most Rain™ along with Winter, crazy twelve year olds who think it’s cool to not wear a coat when it’s almost freezing and to get pneumonia, more Rain™, you won’t know what to wear like it’s too hot for Winter clothes so it’s a very confusing time
It’s so funny how you talk about food. You should so have a food blog too ha. Cool answers. What was wrong with Converse chucks? And those lands shoes look like slippers. They that comfortable?
Haha nah I wouldn’t really be able to keep up a food blog, I might love food but an entire blog dedicated to food and only food? I’d get bored haha. If you click on the url you can see the kind of Converse I was wearing, and apparently those are really weird. Sorry I’m a bit confused, what are lands shoes?
That was supposed to say panda shoes haha.
That makes a lot more sense! They are comfortable, mostly I love them because they’re cute though haha
I’m scared of cycling too, thank God it’s not just me!!! But you live in a country where there are literally more cycles than people xD
Stroopwafels are the best thing!!! My dutch exchange student introduced it to me and oh my god, it was brilliant! I also lobed Pepernoten (they came to my house in the end of November, close to Sinterklaas) though I didn’t get to have the chocolate one which looks so much tastier :0
Utrecht looks so pretty! Amsterdam is really beautiful too. I love how the whole city (at least what I saw) has all the buildings of similar architecture. All the houses are so cute and I really want to go on a canal ride someday. :)
Since you live in the Netherlands, do you listen to / like Main Street? :P
Ah I’m so glad it’s not just me! Haha yeah there are sooo many bikes it’s crazy.
I’m so glad to hear that you got to taste stroopwafels. Regular pepernoten are good too, but if you ever get the chance to try the chocolate ones I’d definitely recommend them!
Not the entire city has similar architecture, you’re probably thinking of the center. There are parts of the city that are more modern, but yeah the houses are really cute :)
Haha no I don’t, I’m not really a fan 🙈 Are you? 😊
I’m not haha, but I was told they’re extremely famous “Dutch 1D” :P I saw them at a festival and all the girls went mad! xD
I will definitely try the chocolate pepernoten some day! One dutch food that I didn’t like though – drop. It was terrible xD
Hahaha yeah they are pretty popular! Oh God yeah can’t blame you I hate it haha. I took one a few days ago because it’s good for a sore throat but I almost threw up :’) Stay away from drop and just stick to the chocolate pepernoten :P
THANK YOU for this wonderful post, this is BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT <3 Also there is a WATERSTONES in Amsterdam??? I can't believe I didn't see it when I came. Oh well another reason to come back , haha. Also, all of this perfect food is making me so hungry. Definitely coming back with this post in mind to do all of the things you recommend :)
I’M SO HAPPY YOU LIKE IT!! Yes there is! Haha yes it’s definitely worth a visit. Just looking through it is fun.
Haha sorry to make you hungry :P
Amsterdam sounds amazing!!! I don’t know how to ride a bike either so you’re not alone. The food looks and sounds delicious :)
It is! I hope you’ll get to visit one day :) Glad to hear that!
I hope so too!!
So thanks for making me crave Stroopwafels!!! Must go out and buy warm stroopwafels tonight!
Hahaha sorry :P
