It’s time to freak out again over the fact that time flies by so fast and what better way to do that than to freak out over books? We’re already past the halfway point, but oh well! Thank you Shouni for tagging me ย for the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag! If you haven’t yet, go check out her blog.
1. BEST BOOKS YOUโVEย READ SO FAR IN 2017?
2. BEST SEQUEL OF 2017 SO FAR
3. NEW RELEASE YOU HAVENโT READ YET, BUT YOU WANT TO
Ummm so many?? CAN 2017 EITHER STOP PUBLISHING SO MANY AMAZING BOOKS OR GIVE THEM ALL TO ME FOR FREE THANKS
To name a few: The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, Not Your Sidekick, Want, The Epic Crush of Genie Lo, Heroine Worship and so many others it’s not funny
4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE OF THE SECOND HALF OF 2017?
5. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT
It’s Not Like It’s a Secret. I have SUCH mixed feelings towards this book, but I can’t say I loved it and I’m definitely disappointed. It had a lot of potential but alas. Read my review here
6. BIGGEST SURPRISE
I’m surprised that I didn’t enjoy The Dark Prophecy as much as I thought I would.ย I absolutely loved The Hidden Oracle, and while I did enjoy the The Dark Prophecy, I didn’t love it which was definitely a surprise. You can read my review here.
Aย good surprise was Heroine Complex. While I was really excited when I picked it up and had high expectations, I wasn’t sure if I’d actually love it once I started. Thankfully my initial expectations and excitement were met and I absolutely loved it. I can’t wait to read the sequel. You can read my review here.
7. FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR AUTHOR TO YOU)
I’d definitely read anything Jen Wilde and Angie Thomas write. I also fell in love with Jenny Han’s writing, though I’m not sure if I’d actually pick up everything she’s written, since The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy just doesn’t appeal to me
8. NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH
I don’t think I really have one? Unless it counts that I now love Gilbert Blythe even more than I did last year when I first read Anne of Green Gables. I did love a lot of the new characters I encountered, just wouldn’t call anyone of them a crush I think.
9. NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER
Alex Fierro from Magnus Chase and Taylor from Queens of Geek. While there are many new favourites, I’m going to limit myself to these two.
10. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRYย
The Hate U Give
11. A BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPYย
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Ps. I Still Love You. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO READ THIS
12. FAVORITE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION YOUโVE SEEN THIS YEAR
Uh do comics count? Cause in that case like Shouni I’ll choose Wonder Woman as well. I don’t recall having seen a book adaptation this year? But it’s okay cause I’ll gladly choose Wonder Woman. If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for?? IT’S AMAZING*
* I started writing this post weeks ago so by now I assume you’ve all seen it already if not let me drag you to the cinema right now
13. FAVORITE REVIEW YOUโVE WRITTEN THIS YEAR?ย
My review for Queens of Geek! I absolutely loved writing it
14. MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOUโVE BOUGHT OR RECEIVED THIS YEAR?
The Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone Hufflepuff edition that I got for my birthday it’s so beautiful omg. Does anyone know if they’ll re-release the other books in the House editions as well?
15. WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?
Since this is a pretty popular tag this time of the year, I won’t be tagging anyone in specific. If you want to do this tag, consider yourself tagged!
What’s your favourite book of the year? And the prettiest one you got? Let me know in the comments!
AHHH I LOVED Queens of Geek so, SO MUCH, it was such a great book – I’m a bit sad I have an e-book and not the physical copy because it looks so pretty ahah. I really need to read The Hate U Give, I have it on my physical TBR and can’t WAIT to get to it even if I am nervous. Even more now knowing it made you cry, haha. Great answers Michelle! <3
Ahhh hopefully you’ll be able to get a physical copy – it really is pretty! THUG is heartbreaking but so so good. I understand the nerves though :P Thank you! โค
Ah, I’m so glad you enjoyed Queens of Geek as much as you did; that’s been on my radar for a while, and I can’t wait to finally get to it. :) Shame that It’s Not Like It’s a Secret was a disappointment, though; I’ve heard that has some harmful Latinx representation in it too. :( I love Jenny Han and her writing, but the Summer trilogy was a massive let-down. >.<

I hope you’ll enjoy Queens of Geek! It’s such a great read. Yeah It’s Not Like It’s a Secret was a big let down :/ The protagonist herself has prejudice towards the Latinx community and is pretty racist towards them, which does get addressed but it felt like she got away with it a bit too easily :/
… I bought Heroine Worship without realizing it was a sequel. Time to grab Heroine Complex and read away ๐
Haha has happened to me too! Good thing you found out before you started reading it :P
I loved doing this tag when I posted it a while back! I am yet to read The Hate U Give but I am so excited to pick it up hopefully soon!
Oh hopefully you’ll pick it up soon! It’s really good :)
I can’t believe I haven’t read THUG or Queens Of Geek yet! Definitely need to remedy that in what’s left of 2017… xD
Haha hope you’ll get to them soon!
UUUUUUUGH I still have to read THUG! And a lot of other books. WONDER WOMAN AAAAGH. That movie was so so good and I love it so much and STEVE. <3 And I agree! Hammer of Thor was really much more enjoyable than Sword of Summer (especially because ALEX FIERRO). That Hufflepuff edition of Harry Potter is SOOOO GORGEOUS!! (And so are you!! <3)
The Epic Crush of Genie Lo is definitely a book I want to read! #AsianRep I still need to read Queens of Geek, agh! SO MANY ASJDF;ALSDKJ;ALKDSF. And yeah, The Dark Prophecy was good, but I think The Hidden Oracle was better. Great post!!! <3
YES YOU DO. It’s so good. YES STEVE โค AND DIANA โค And the rest of their gang โค
Yes Alex made Hammer of Thor even better โค (wow so many hearts in this comment haha) Isn’t it?! (aww thank you! <3)
I can’t believe I stilllll haven’t seen Wonder Women yet!! I’ve heard so many incredible things about it, though! (And seriously: we’re already in August!? WHAT?!) My favorite book I’ve read this year has to be either THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN or WINTERSONG. Both of them were so, so, so amazing! And I have so many amazing-looking books (LORD OF SHADOWS, STRANGE THE DREAMER) to read before the end of the year, too. So basically, I’m drowning in books. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. ;)
Ohhh I hope you get to see it soon! It’s SO GOOD. Though hopefully you’re expectations aren’t so high right now that they can’t be reached haha. (I know?! And now it’s September?! Where has the year gone)
I haven’t read those yet, but I’ll definitely check them out! Haha there are worse things to drown in ;)
Yay you did it! (Just a tad bit late ๐๐). I haven’t read Queens of Geek yet but I need to! I hear about it everywhere! I also haven’t read the Jenny Han books or Heroine Complex but they’re on my tbr list. I completely agree on The Dark Prophecy! I loved The Hidden Oracle but the Dark Prophecy did very little for me (probably because neither Percy nor Nico showed up). Oh my gosh, I’ve been wanting to get the Hufflepuff edition, it looks beautiful! AND YES WONDER WOMAN!!!! That movie was awesome!
You must read all of them! :D Ahh sorry to hear you felt the same way about The Dark Prophecy. Hopefully the next one will be better :) Yes the Hufflepuff edition is so beautiful! The inside is really pretty too and has some cool extra information :D
Yup, all of them, haha. Aw you must get to The Gentleman’s Guide and The Epic Crush of Genie Lo!
I really want to! I need to find a sponsor haha

Wasn’t Wonder Woman such a joy to watch? I went & saw it three times in the cimena – I just couldn’t get enough of it, & I thought they adapted the comics so beautifully. <3 I've heard wonderful things about The Hate U Give as well, & I have it reserved at the library, so I’m very much looking forward to finally reading it! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us, friend, & here’s hoping the rest of 2017 carries so many more beautiful bookish adventures on the horizon.
Topaz (Six Impossible Things)
It was! I really want to watch it again :)
Ohh hopefully you’ll get THUG soon so you can read it, it’s so good! Aww thank you, hopefully 2017 will do the same for you!
Ooooh can I borrow this? I love the questions! I can’t believe the year is (more than) half over, too.
Yeah of course go ahead! :) Yeah where did 2017 go??
It just fluttered away!
AHH I really really really need to read Queens of Geek??? *runs off to find it from the depth of my TBR* *not really cause I’m writing this comment but shh* I’m so glad you loved it so much, along with THUG!! That book was PHENOMENAL. <3 Hahaha #15 yesss!
Yes you do!!!! It’s so good :D Yes THUG is amazing โค So glad that one lived up to the hype :)
