The Weekly Hufflepuff #66 // I’M HOME

I’M HOME

live footage of me on the flight back home (also when i picked up my mom at the train station)

Sorry for the radio silence, but as I mentioned before my mom came over so I’ve been busy showing her around, and then of course packing everything up (including 16 plushies* I have a p r o b l e m) and getting back home. Manchester Airport was pretty chaotic, especially the security part which isn’t fun when that part already gives you lots of anxiety. And then our flight got delayed – but apart from that everything went fine and we got home safely.

* 1 I bought for my mom, 1 my mom bought for a friend and 1 I had brought from home but still adkbjfs

Since my last wrap up I started and finished Starfish, which I would’ve finished a lot sooner if I hadn’t been busy with my mom. I definitely could’ve read it all in one sitting – definitely worth the hype!

Today I finished Sugar Lump which was,,, disappointing. It’s centered around a mystery in a small town and boy was I let down by that ‘mystery’. I just expected a lot more.

I picked up Moxie for four pounds (if you’re ever in the UK and nearby an Asda – go go go they have a small YA section and really cheap prices it’s heaven) and started it on the plane, but I didn’t get very far as I was exhausted. I’m excited to continue though!

As I already mentioned I spent my last week in Manchester with my mom. Since Love, Simon came out last Friday and it takes forever to come out in The Netherlands* I HAD to go see it of course.

* Sometime in June like yyyy I was really lucky to still be in the UK when it came out

I really have no words I loved it so much. I still tear up just thinking about it it was so beautiful and just??? perfect?? Brb crying

me pretty much the entire movie

I realise this sounds like I immediately went to see it as it came out, but since we had tickets to see Hairspray the same day we went to Love, Simon the next day. Hairspray is my favourite musical so when I found out it was playing in Manchester while I was there I knew I had to take the opportunity. I’m so happy that I got the chance to see it – and it was SO GOOD. The entire cast was just so talented and cute and just sdfhgv

Of course we did and saw a lot more than this, but I’ll leave that for future posts that I’ll hopefully get around to soon. Classes start this Tuesday and I still have two essays to write. I was planning on starting yesterday but uhhh guess what

I’m really excited to write those posts though – I’ve been meaning to write some of them since FOREVER as I wanted to post about the things I saw and did while still in Manchester, but oh well.

πŸ’›Β I wrapped up March or more like promoted Hayley Kiyoko’s debut album
πŸ’›Β I reviewed Lady Mary, which is an interesting look on future Queen Mary, daughter of Henry VII, and the affair between the latter and Anne Boleyn

πŸ’›Β Olivia @ Purely Olivia wonders if standalones get enough credit
πŸ’›Β Iona @ Dragon Waffles shares some romance tropes that melt her heart
πŸ’›Β Chiara @ Delicate Eternity talkes about why she didn’t love Let’s Talk About Love
πŸ’›Β Sarah @ Written Word Worlds wonders if star ratings should be replaced by gifs
πŸ’›Β Andie @ Andrea’s Nirvana shares what she wants to see more of in YA
πŸ’›Β Vivian @ Writing With Style shares how she outlines her novels
πŸ’›Β May @ Forever and Everly talks about privilege in the YA online book community

Have you had the opportunity to see Love, Simon yet? Have you ever seen your favourite musical performed live? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Thanks for featuring my post, it’s an honor :D Agh, I haven’t watched Love, Simon yet! I don’t even know if it’s out in my country… I really loved the book though, got me really emotional <3 Thanks again! Great post :D

  2. OH MY LORD MICHELLE THAT’S A LOT OF PLUSHES. howwwwwwwwwwwwww. I’m both amazed and incredibly jealous. (and glad you’re home safe!)
AND YAY YOU SAW LOVE SIMON. The international release dates suck so that’s awesome you got to see it in the UK!! I’m so glad you loved it; I cried from happiness so much when I saw it. <3

    • I KNOOOOOW LIKE I SAID I HAVE A PROBLEM. Yeah the international release dates are just so weird! Usually movies don’t take this long to get released here after they come out in the US, so I really don’t get it. So grateful that I was still in the UK when it came out. Yesss it was so beautiful – if I had been on my own I would’ve sobbed LOUDLY now I just let the tears fall silently haha

  3. I hope the rest of April is wonderful for you! :) Thank you so much for featuring my post, I’m glad you enjoyed it.❀️Also, LOVE SIMON! I want to see it sooo bad, I’ve just been so busy, but I need to go soon so I can see it in theaters…

  4. I’m so glad you had a good time in the UK! I’m only a tad bit jealous :P
I cannot wait for Love Simon to be released here *cries*

  5. Happy you are home safe, and… can’t really blame you on all the plushies, but… I really want to see a picture of them all now?! :P
I’m SO happy you got to see Love, Simon already, I can’t wait to watch it…. in late June when it releases in my country haha, it is SO FAR AWAY AND I can’t wait to have all the emotions haha.
    I hope you’re having a fantastic April <3

    • Thank you Marie! Ahhh you’re right, I should definitely post a picture :P There’s a huge chance I’m going to forget it, so if at some point you think ‘Michelle, where is that pic??’ feel free to yell at me :P
Ahhh I’m just so confused about the release date of Love, Simon! I don’t get why in so many countries it takes forever to come out? It’s SO worth it though, you definitely will have all the emotions ❀
Thank you, I hope the same for you ❀

      • OKAY I WILL, MICHELLE WHERE IS THAT PICTURE??? πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
I don’t really understand it either… especially given all the hype that movie has, it should be released at least in the same month? That’s so strange and frustrating haha.

  6. Enjoy your break!
I’m so glad you got to see Love, Simon!!!!
Also I have to ask…How to you get insta post in wordpress posts like that??? Tell me your secrets oh wise one! Please ahah

    • Thank you! It was only a few days unfortunately, but I’m glad I didn’t have to go to school right away :P When you click on ‘add media’ you have to paste the url of your insta post in ‘insert from url’ :)

  7. Ah you saw Hairspray, I would love to see that one day. I haven’t actually seen many shows, I once saw The Phantom of the Opera in London for my friends birthday and it was insane, like I can’t put into words how amazing it was. I also have yet to see Love Simon, I will probably wait for the DVD now… :)

    • Ohh I hope you get to see Hairspray one day! It’s such a great experience :) I’ve never seen The Phantom of the Opera (both as a play and the movie) but I’m glad to hear you had an amazing time. I’m really curious about that one now :) Hope you’ll enjoy Love, Simon!

  8. Ahh I haven’t seen Love, Simon yet but all my queer friends said they cried so I am ready to shed some tears because I already cry a lot during movies. I’m so excited to see it. Glad you finally got to as well!

  9. I love live theater, and Hairspray is such a fabulous play. I hope you are enjoying Moxie. I really loved it. And since this is my first visit, I must say, your graphics are phenomenal. *green with envy*

    • I definitely am enjoying Moxie! Aww thank you very much, but I don’t draw the cartoon versions of me myself! I used an app called ‘moments’ that puts your face into their drawings – I only coloured them in and turned them into graphics :)
