Why We Should All Find A Way To Move To The Animal Crossing World

Whenever something bad happens in the world, I wish I could just move to the Animal Crossing world. As you can guess that has been happening quite a few times lately unfortunately. So why should we all move there? But first, let me explain what I’m talking about because this is a book and writing blog and you might be wondering what Animal Crossing is.

SO WHAT IS ANIMAL CROSSING?

Animal Crossing is a gaming franchise in which you live as the only human in a town full of animals. There’s not really a storyline or a specific goal; you collect a certain amount of items, decorate your house, become friends with the animals, go fishing, catch bugs… Basically it’s very peaceful. New Leaf does have a more specific goal, since you’re also the mayor of the town, but it’s really completely up to you what you do. It’s just really fun, relaxing and cute.

IT’S PEACEFUL

For starters. Though this may not be the case any longer if we all move there (and when I say ‘we all’ I mean all the nice people in the world. No murders allowed), but then again every town has only one human being living there, and said human can decide who to let into their town. So maybe that’s that problem solved? The animals are all nice and cute. Everyone is friends with everyone. How nice is that?

NO RESPONSIBILITIES

Not really, anyway. You do have to pay off your house’s loan, but after that it’s up to you whether or not you want to take out another loan to renovate your house. Also it’s not like you have a job (unless you’re the mayor like in New Leaf, but hey you can say no). You just sell fruit, fish, bugs, fossils, furniture and clothes you don’t need etc. And it’s not like you’re in a hurry, because you can just eat all the fruit that’s growing in the trees and eat the fish.

FRIENDS

So naturally you have your animal friends who are all lovely, positive and supporting, but also if we’re living in the Animal Crossing world your human friends can use Wifi to come visit you (this may sound odd when you think about this happening in real life, but if all of this were real we’d be living with talking animals sooo) so you can see your Internet friends and hang out with them all the time!

BASICALLY NOTHING BAD HAPPENS IN THIS WORLD AND IT’S CUTE AND FUN AND PEACEFUL OKAY SO LET’S JUST FIND A WAY TO GET THERE

Seriously guys, I mean obviously I’d love to live in the Wizarding World but awful things still happen there, so sometimes I really just wish I could live among my animal friends.

Would you join me there? And have you played Animal Crossing? Let me know in the comments!

Sinterklaas, food and whipped cream in my eye

Last Saturday was Sinterklaas, a Dutch holiday. I won’t give you guys a detailed explanation about it (since it’s pretty long haha), but basically on December 5th it’s ‘pakjesavond’ (‘presents nights’) and Sinterklaas visits all the children in the country and leaves a lot of presents and candy.

I ate so much food (if some of it even counts as food haha), which is no surprise unless you’re new here (in that case: hi!) because if you’ve been around for a while you should know of my love for food.

Basically I was really full and a bit nauseous (but content!) when we went home haha. But of course the evening wasn’t just us eating! (it may sound that our family gatherings are always me and my family stuffing ourselves with food, but really, it isn’t!)

To keep my six-year old cousin occupied we played some games when all of a sudden we heard a few loud knocks on the door! But when we opened it, there was no one there except for presents! My cousin remained very calm as he dragged his presents inside haha. He had a cool image to keep up of course.

He was really spoiled, but he wasn’t the only one who got presents!

Sinterklaas

How did Sinterklaas know I wanted all of this?! *cough picked all of it out myself cough*. I ordered the illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone when it had just come out, but since it’s rather expensive I got it for Sinterklaas (though I was really lucky to already find it with a 50% discount!). I now own two Harry Potter POP! Funkos (I already owned Dumbledore), more Tsum Tsums have joined my Tsum Tsum family and I finally have Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (if you’re a fan of Animal Crossing, I definitely recommend it. It’s very cute and fun to play!). I mentioned the Jigglypuff hat in my post about POPCULT. I thought I’d get it for Christmas, but since it’s cold already my mom decided to give it to me now (I mean, Sinterklaas decided that).

I actually wanted to take a picture including the chocolate and the gingerbread man I got, but most of the chocolate is gone already (I doubt any of you are surprised to hear that). My six-year old cousin’s father always buys the gingerbread men, and when my mom unwrapped hers the six-year old cousin was like ‘that’s Dad’s!’ so naturally we all looked at each other like ‘oh shit, how does he know that?!’, but he was referring to the chocolate  letter ‘M’ that my mom had also gotten (both my mom and his dad’s names start with an M). It was a moment of panic haha.

The rest of the evening we played the games he had gotten, including the new ‘pie face game’ (at least it’s new here). If you’re not familiar with it, here’s a link. I was very lucky to not get whipped cream in my face (*cue evil laugh every time I escaped the cream*), but of course everyone insisted that I’d play until I got some too (why do they have to be so mean?!). That’s how I ended up with whipped cream in my eye.

That was my ‘pakjesavond’! If you celebrate Sinterklaas, did you have fun? If you don’t, what’s on your Christmas wish list? Let me know in the comments!

The Monthly Hufflepuff: November

THIS IS THE LAST MONTHLY WRAP UP OF 2015 HOW DID THIS EVEN HAPPEN. I feel like I start all these wrap ups with a freak-out about how fast time flies lately, but can you blame me. We’re almost in 2016. How.

whatiread

This month I only read two books, but I’m completely okay with that. I would’ve read more if Winter hadn’t put me in such a mayor reading slump!

I don’t have a picture this time because:

  1. I was too tired to blog for the majority of the day
  2. Now it’s too dark to take a proper picture!
  • Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan ★★★★ (review will be published soon; I just need to take a picture but I keep forgetting to take one until it’s once again too dark)
  • Winter by Marissa Meyer ★★★★★

2015goals

  • While it was still November, I read (98/100) books for my Goodreads Challenge (I completed it yesterday)
  • I’m still reading The Silkworm for my ‘Finish These Series’ challenge
  • Speaking of which, I’m really not sure I even want to finish all the series on that list anymore!
  • I’ve read (6/10) books for the Fairytale Retelling Challenge
  • Thanks to NaNoWriMo I finished translating my wip, which was also one of my goals!

what I posted-2

Here are some posted I enjoyed writing and you guys enjoyed reading!

nextmonth

Remember The Book Awards? I really want to know if you guys are still interested in the last round. I know I haven’t really done much with it the last few months (I was busy, I forgot and kind of lost motivation), but if you guys really want me to do it, I’ll make a post in which you guys can vote for the nominees! The winners would be announced in January (that sentence sounds weird, but it could be because I’m exhausted).

Anyway, this month I hope to blog a lot, but also write and read. I will soon have Happy Home Designer in my grabby hands, so I’m afraid I’ll be spending a lot of time designing homes for cute animals.

Guys, it really won’t surprise me if this is how I’m going to spend my holidays. If I disappear from the blogosphere, you’ll know why.

But if I don’t disappear (which I really hope) I’ll be doing posts in which I’ll look back on 2015 and forwards to 2016. I might do some Christmassy posts, but I’m not sure about that yet. There will be reviews (I’ve already written some, they just need pictures woops) and probably tags since I’ve still got a long list with tags to do (I HAVEN’T FORGOTTEN ANY OF YOU WONDERFUL BLOGGERS WHO TAGGED ME. I PROMISE) and a bunch of other fun posts planned (but not written yet so it won’t surprise me if they won’t go up until May or something).

How was your month? What was your favourite book of the month? Mine was obviously Winter (it is tied with Made You Up as my favourite book of 2015).
