Chronicles at Hogwarts: Epilogue

storymashupfinal

I can’t believe the project is already over! I had such a blast creating and writing Min Hye and her and the others’ story and of course meeting amazing new bloggers. I was actually supposed to post this yesterday, but things didn’t go as planned. Woops. Better late than never though, right?

Disclaimer: None of us own Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling does. We do however own the words we have written and the characters we have created ourselves.

Previous chapters: Chapter I: Indira | Chapter II: Aislin | Chapter III: Min Hye | Chapter IV: Yoki | Chapter V: Percy | Chapter VI: Dalton | Chapter VII: Ashley

EPILOGUE: MIN HYE SUMMERS

Min Hye had to admit that she was a bit bummed out that Hufflepuff had lost the match. Of course she was happy for Aislin, who had played spectacularly, but she was a Puff through and through; naturally she had hoped her own House would’ve won.

”Better luck next time.” Percy walked towards her, a big grin on her face. Min Hye glared at her, but a good natured smile formed on her face.

”We still have a chance at the cup.”

”Keep telling yourself that.”

They discussed the match a bit, waiting for Aislin to join them so that they could all go to Hogsmeade together. The Hufflepuff team quickly made their way past them, before Min Hye could call them out. Angelica Rivera quickened her step when she noticed the fellow Hufflepuff; clearly she hadn’t forgotten Min Hye’s ‘threat’.

”I was just kidding!” Min Hye called after her, Percy laughing beside her.

Min Hye shook her head at the new Keeper, when she noticed Aislin not too far away from them, watching Brian Langley’s back. Min Hye nudged Percy, nodding towards the two Ravenclaws. Percy’s eyes sparkled at the sight of the two of them and grinned at the small Puff.

Aislin smiled at them as she joined them and Percy congratulated her. Aislin promised the younger Ravenclaw that she would teach her her signature move (Min Hye had rolled her eyes when Aislin had said she didn’t even know how she did it. Sure, Aislin, sure. It’s not like you do it at every match, the Hufflepuff thought to herself).

“Ahem, more importantly,” Min Hye interrupted, linking her arm around Aislin’s, “What’s going on between you and Langley?”

Aislin sputtered before she started laughing, “What? There is nothing between us. At all.”

Min Hye and Percy exchanged knowing looks, and Aislin continued to protest as they left the pitch.

”So there’s nothing, huh?”

No.” though Aislin’s face was so red it looked like she was supporting Gryffindor instead of her own House.

”I wonder why you’re so red then?”

”We beat your little Hufflepuff ass.” Aislin quickly said, knowing that this would immediately distract the small girl. And indeed, Min Hye gave her her glare that made her known as ‘The Demon Puff’ among the younger students, though it didn’t scare Aislin.

”Like I told Percy: we still have a chance at the cup.”

”So are you going to go after Rivera?” Percy asked, stifling her laughter since she already knew the answer.

”Merlin’s beard! I was kidding! I don’t take Quidditch that seriously.”

”Riiiight.” both Ravenclaw girls replied.

A silence fell over them, but it wasn’t an awkward one. They had gone through so much together the past few days, that it felt like they had known each other forever. That’s why Min Hye had decided to talk to them about something that had been bothering her ever since they had found out about the Muggleborn plan.

”Hey, have you guys wondered what you would’ve done if you had been in Ashley and the others’ position?”

Though Min Hye was staring at her feet, she could feel the other two girls looking at her.

”’Cause I have. Ever since I got here, people have been treating me like a Pureblood, because my adoptive parents are both magic, but I don’t know who my biological parents are, let alone if even one of them was a wizard. If they’re Muggles, and they hadn’t given me up for adoption, would I have joined Ashley and Yoki?”

”Like hell you would’ve,” Aislin immediately answered. ”You would’ve found another way to stand up for the Muggleborns and yourself; you wouldn’t have done something like this. You’re too kind for that.”

Min Hye smiled at her.

”Thanks Ash.”

”Min Hye, Aislin!” the three of them turned around and saw a couple of fifth year Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws coming towards them.

”What an exciting match, eh?”

”Such a shame Hufflepuff lost. Such a shame.”

”Shut your little Raven beak, Harris.”

”I’ll go on ahead,” Percy told them quietly. ”I’ll save you some seats?”

”Definitely, we need to celebrate.” Aislin grinned.

”Uh, you mean grieve.” Min Hye pointed out, to which her fellow Hufflepuffs agreed.

Aislin rolled her eyes.

”Fine, you grieve, we celebrate.”

They waved goodbye to Percy, but soon found themselves taking the same path, having parted from their Housemates. It was odd, but Min Hye found herself closer to Aislin, Percy, Indira and even Yoki and Dalton than to her fellow Hufflepuffs. Not that she minded. She felt like this would be a good year, with her new friends by her side.

And that’s a wrap! Don’t forget to read the other epilogues! Again, I had so much fun with this project and I’m sad that it’s now over. I’m not ready to let this story and these characters go yet haha! I hope we’ll be able to do something like this again soon. Also, thank you Joan for organising this. YOU ARE AWESOME.

CHAPTER III: MIN HYE SUMMERS

Min Hye Summers hated patrolling. She was sick of finding couples in cupboards, of Peeves trying to throw whatever he could find at her and of the cold breeze in the hallways. She’d much rather be in the common room right now, with her fellow Hufflepuffs. Or in the kitchen, baking. But no, patrolling was part of being a Prefect and she – though somewhat reluctantly – accepted that. She just wished that something exciting would happen for once.

As if some Fairy Godmother heard her prayers, she heard voices coming from the Astronomy Tower.

‘’Finally!’’ she muttered as she made her way towards the stairs. She put her hands on her hips, trying to get rid of the ‘cute-little-Hufflepuff’ image and tried to glare at the three students halfway at the stairs as hard as she could.

‘’Can you both shut up so we can go upstairs and find out what they are doing?’’ she heard one of them ask. So there were even more students up there. Interesting.

‘’Not so fast.’’

The trio turned around. One of them groaned at the sight of her.

‘’Care to explain to me what you three are doing out here?’’ she asked slowly, ‘’or would you rather tell the Professor?’’

One of the students, the smallest and thinnest of the three, started muttering in what Min Hye recognised as Japanese. The one next to the lanky boy, started playing with her ring and made some incoherent noises, what might have been an attempt at an explanation.

‘’Well?’’ Min Hye turned to Aislin Bennet, a fellow fifth-year and a Chaser for the Ravenclaw team who she admired.

‘’Just taking a walk.’’ Aislin answered, clearly refusing to tell the truth.

‘’At the prohibited Astronomy Tower? What’s next? A walk in the Forbidden Forrest? It could be arranged.’’

The eyes of the younger students widened as they gasped.

‘’Unless you have a very good reason for being here?’’

‘’There are some students meeting up here tonight and we think they’re up to no good!’’

‘’I just wanted to do my homework!’’

Min Hye could just make out Aislin rolling her eyes at her two accomplices.

‘’Which one is it?’’ Min Hye asked the two of them.

‘’Both,’’ Aislin responded. ‘’Percy and I came up here to spy on some students when we ran into Yokitori.’’

Min Hye lowered her hands from her hips and nodded.

‘’Well, let’s see what these students are up to, shall we?’’ she made her way towards them as the other three stared at her in confusion,

‘’We’re not getting punished?’’ the girl named Percy asked with a tiny voice.

‘’While you’re definitely breaking the rules, you were trying to do a good thing,’’ Min Hye took out her wand, just in case. ‘’I hope.’’ she added as a last thought.

The four of them walked up the stairs quietly, Aislin next to Min Hye, her wand also out. The underclassmen were right behind them, also clutching their wands. They stopped at the door, putting their ears to it.

‘’You’ve got the pictures?’’ a deep voice asked. Min Hye wished she could match it to a face, but she had no idea who that voice belonged to. It was definitely a boy’s though.

‘’Yeah, right here.’’ a high, feminine voice responded. They didn’t hear anything for a while, until a new voice spoke up.

‘’How is anyone supposed to tell this is Indira Marshall? These aren’t any good, Emily.’’

Min Hye and Aislin looked at each other at the same time, both putting two and two together.

‘’Please, she’s my friend…’’ Emily’s voice wavered.

‘’You should’ve thought of that when you agreed to this.’’ the first voice responded.

‘’No, she should’ve thought of that when she took these lousy excuses for pictures in the first place.’’ another new voice, this one sounding very familiar to Min Hye. Yokitori gasped.

The other three put their fingers to their mouths and glared at him. The young boy looked down in shame.

‘’Obviously we won’t pay you for these,’’ the familiar voice continued. ‘’They’re useless.’’

‘’Please, I need the money…’’

‘’If you’re that desperate, you should’ve taken better pictures.’’ the first voice snarked.

‘’It’s not easy!’’ Emily cried out. ‘’You try taking a picture of a werewolf without getting ripped in half!’’

The four students at the door all froze. Indira Marshall was a werewolf? And whoever was out there with Emily was going to use that against her. This wasn’t good.

‘’She has a point there,’’ they heard another new voice say. ‘’Besides, it’s not like they need to know it’s Indira Marshall at this point. They’ll find out sooner or later. All they asked for is pictures of a werewolf, as proof that there really is one at Hogwarts. Give them these, see if they’re happy, and pay this pathetic excuse for a Slytherin.’’

One of the voices sighed.

‘’We agreed that we’d be using these pictures for…other purposes as well.’’

‘’We can still get better pictures for that. The next full moon is in, what? Ten days? We’ll take them then.’’

‘’Fine. All in favour?’’

They heard what sounded like at least ten different voices say ‘aye’. Min Hye removed her ear from the door and gestured that the others should do the same.

‘’We need to go. Now.’’ she mouthed. They quickly made their way down the stairs, careful that they didn’t make a sound.

As soon as they got downstairs, she ushered them inside a classroom where they could hide until the students up at the Astronomy Tower were gone.

The four of them sat there in silence, not even daring to look at each other as they watched the shadows of the strangers pass.

‘’What the hell was that about?’’ Aislin whispered, though Min Hye knew that she had already figured it out.

‘’Listen, what you just overheard, you can’t tell anybody, except Indira herself and the teachers, understood?’’ Min Hye told them, back in Prefect mode.

The underclassmen nodded, still looking shaken from what they had just learned.

‘’They want to expose her,’’ Aislin said, disgusted. ‘’They wanted pictures that clearly showed that Indira Marshall is a werewolf and hand them out to the entire student body.’’

Min Hye nodded.

‘’I can’t believe Emily is helping them. I thought they were friends.’’ she frowned. Call her a stereotypical Hufflepuff, but she valued loyalty.

‘’But who are they going to send the other pictures too? And what are those people going to do with them?’’

‘’Wait. When we overheard them earlier at the Greenhouses, they were talking about doing something at the next full moon, and they didn’t know the pictures weren’t that good at that point. So what are they going to do?’’ Percy pointed out. Aislin looked at her, a bit of awe in her eyes that Min Hye only recognised because she had known the girl for five years – though not that well.

‘’That’s a very good question.’’

The four of them turned towards the door. Without any of them hearing it, it had opened. Standing in it’s opening was none other than Indira Marshall herself.

‘’What are they going to do to me?’’

What are they going to do to Indira? Who was that familiar voice? Does Yokitori know? Just what is happening at Hogwarts? If you want to know how the story continues, then please visit Trisha @ The Bookgasm next Sunday!

Welcome to Hogwarts!

storymashupfinal

I’m very excited to announce the start of the collaborative story project I helped Joan set up! Every week one of us will write a chapter of the story, without the others knowing what will happen! And anything can happen. So what’s our story about?

THE STORY

The wizarding world has been quiet since the day Harry Potter defeated the evil wizard named Voldemort. Seventeen years later, the magical community continues to live in harmony and secrecy among the Muggles, and the students, fresh from their summer vacations, are returning to school with nothing but excitement for the coming year in their minds. Truly, nothing could shake this era of peace ever again…or so they believe.

MY CHARACTER

minhyeprofile

BASIC INFORMATION

  • Name: Min Hye Summers
  • Age: 15
  • Blood Status: Unknown (she was adopted and doesn’t know anything about her birth parents. Her adoptive parents are wizards though)
  • Occupation: Student / Prefect
  • Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
  • Year Level: 5
  • Extra classes taken: Ancient Runes, Care of Magial Creatures and Muggle Studies
  • Extra curricular classes: Ancient Studies
  • Wand: Beech, 12 3/4 inches, unicorn, bendy
  • Pets: Tawny Owl
  • Appearance: See picture. She usually wears contacts, but sometimes wears her glasses, which are round. She is short and often viewed as cute (not just because of her size), though she isn’t always.

INTERESTS

  • Hobbies: Baking, potions, reading
  • Likes: Cute things, sweet food, having fun with her friends, Quidditch (she isn’t on the team as she isn’t very athletic, but she does enjoy playing it and she definitely enjoys watching it), oversized comfy clothes, animals, Disney (she was introduced to it by her Muggleborn friends), contemporary YA (she does enjoy fantasy novels, but those without it are much more interesting to her as she lives in a magical world), the smell of grass, tea
  • Dislikes: Bullying (you wouldn’t describe her as cute when you see her stand up to bullies), injustice, rude people, stress, being awoken by someone/something
  • Strengths (skills, personality, talents): Kind, loyal, clever, justified, cheerful (most of the time), hard worker, she’s good at baking and potions, most animals/magical creatures tend to like her, studying comes easy to her (she is good at memorising things) but that doesn’t mean she always does well at school
  • Weaknesses (skills, personality, talents): Impatient, sarcastic (though she’d argue that’s a strength), has a bit of a temper (it’s hard for her to stay calm when she sees bullying or injustice), stubborn, if she doesn’t like you you’ll know, perfectionist when it comes to schoolwork, often works too hard, gets distracted easily
  • Strongest / Favourite subjects: Potions, Care of Magical Creatures, Muggle Studies, Ancient Runes
  • Weakest / Least Favourite Subjects: Astronomy, History of Magic (she is actually good at it because she studies it on her own and likes reading up on it, but she can’t concentrate when Binns teaches it), Ancient Runes (she has a love/hate relationship with it)
  • Quidditch Player (Yes / No): No, she is the commentator though after her friends decided that they wanted the entire school to hear her comments. She comments things like: ‘Someone got the Quaffle; it went too fast so I have no idea who that is. It’s a Gryffindor though. Oh look, it’s number 6! That’s *reads of paper* Ffhdfsj (completely mispronounces the name) Oh I just heard that she’s called Ickleberg. Thank you, Professor.’ ‘AND HUFFLEPUFF SCORED! TAKE THAT GRYFFINDOR- and learn from it so you can score next. I want you to score. I want both Houses to score. After all, I’m a neutral commentator and don’t care which House wins *cough, cough*’ ‘COME ON JAMESON IT’S NOT LIKE IT’S HARD. Says the girl who can’t even throw a regular ball, let alone a Quaffle. Sorry, please continue.

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CHARACTER

She was given up for adoption when she was a few months old. She doesn’t know anything about her birth parents since it was a closed adoption. Though she is curious and wishes that she knew her birth parents, she loves her adoptive parents a lot. When she was younger she thought that her birth parents didn’t want her, but now that she’s older she understands that they may not have been able to take care of her. Plus her adoptive parents did want her and that’s what matters to her. She quickly got very close to the other kids in her year when she started out at Hogwarts and is still friends with all of them today. She is the first one to defend Hufflepuff house when someone makes fun of it. Actually, she’s the first one to defend anyone when they’re being made fun of, bullied or discriminated.
