The Weekly Hufflepuff #63 | I Am Eeyore

Good news: Didn’t suffer from a blogging slump this week!

Bad news: I did suffer from my mental health and my period rip

Actually I’ve been putting off this post the entire day because I’m just not feeling good mentally, but I talked to my friend for a bit just now and am feeling slightly better, so let’s wrap this week up

I started What’s a Girl Gotta Do? by Holly Bourne before going to sleep and finished it the next day immediately. I just HAD to finish it before doing anything else. I’m not one of those people who can read until the early mornings. I’ve never tried, because eventually I give in and go to sleep, but I don’t handle lack of sleep well so I’m not planning on trying. Anyway, What’s a Girl Gotta Do? is PHENOMENAL and I can’t wait to scream about it in your faces review it.

Friday on the bus I started Take Me With You by Andrea Gibson and lemme tell you: THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I almost cried on the bus. Then I almost cried at the bus stop. I finished it today in the privacy of my own house and boy was I a crying mess. I immediately reread it again and I know I will reread it again soon. It’s incredibly moving, powerful and beautiful and again, can’t wait to review it.

I also read DC Bombshells #60. 40 more issues to go before I can go on to Bombshells United. This is honestly one of my favourite comics but it’s taking me forever to read it? Once I’m finally caught up a bit I’ll write a post about it.

This morning I woke up feeling in the mood for Harry Potter, so I started to reread Goblet of Fire. I’ve been meaning to reread it for quite some time now as I started to reread the series last year, but other books just got in the way.

I wanted to go to museums this week but the weather has been terrible and life got in the way so unfortunately it didn’t happen. I’m hoping to go visit some museums soon, since some exhibitions will close while I’m in Manchester so I really need to go before I leave.

Weย (Blikopeners – a group of teens/young people (you’re a teen when you start) who work at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam) wrote our own audiotour, so on Friday we recorded it which was a lot of fun. It felt so professional haha

Yesterday my mom and I went shopping, since we still needed to buy presents for Sinterklaas, which is a Dutch holiday. I also treated myself to this:

IT’S AN EEYORE BLANKET AND IT’S THE BEST THING I EVER BOUGHT IT EVEN HAS A TAIL IT’S SO COMFY AND WARM AND SOFT

Here’s a picture of my grandpa wearing it. He came over for dinner yesterday. He told us that the other day a guy at his retirement home whom he really doesn’t like walked past him, and then he (my grandpa) gave him the middle finger??

My mom: why??
My grandpa: because I don’t like himย ๐Ÿ˜ค and he doesn’t get itย ๐Ÿ˜ค he still doesn’tย ๐Ÿ˜ค

My grandpa has that old people mentallity where they don’t care anymore and just do what they want. Honestly part of me wishes I could’ve had that mentallity last term when people didn’t do their work lmao.

So those were the highlights.* Like I said before, I’ve been struggling with my period and mental health, but I’ve continued to talk to my friend while writing this post and it is making me feel a bit better. My mental health is always worse during my period so hopefully it will both be over soon.

* My grandfather coming over was a highlight, not him giving a man the finger

I almost forgot that I actually wrote this week! I was supposed to go out with a friend, but unfortunately she had to cancel because of school. So I spent the day blogging and writing. Not as much writing as I would’ve liked, but I always have trouble writing while on my period. Either I’m in too much pain or I just can’t concentrate.

Anyway, recently I’ve been struggling a lot with my beginning. I realised that I didn’t like it at all, so now I started to rewrite it. So yep, I’ve already started to rewrite my second draft lol*

* I hadn’t gotten that far yet anyway so it’s okay

I’m MUCH happier with it now though, so it was worth it. Hopefully I’ll feel like writing more next week.

The Weekly Hufflepuff #51

GUYS GUYS GUYS DISNEY DESCENDANTS 2 IS EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE I’M IN LOVE I’M OBSESSED IT’S SO GOOD OH MY GOD

I cought up on some comics, started Giant Days (another comic) which I’m loving and made little progress in Anne of Windy Poplars. I’m not loving that one as much as the previous books, but it’s still fun. I’m just not a fast reader when it comes to e-books.

It was supposed to be really warm on Tuesday, so my mom wanted to go to the beach, but once we were finally ready to go and got outside it was pretty chilly so instead we went to do some shopping haha. I spent so much money that I’m putting myself on a ban. But it was so worth it; there was a sale at a comic book store and it was all so cheap

The three comics on the right are the ones I got for free with my purchase (welllll minus two that I threw away *hides* they weren’t really comics though, more like thin magazines with info on the comics? But they were Hydra Cap related and well… Nope). I’m not sure what I’ll do with The Walking Dead one since that doesn’t appeal to me at all but I’ll find it a good home. Underneath the Ms. Marvel issue there are 5 others. I’m so happy to finally have my own issues, even though I don’t have them all yet. Those hardcovers were both around 10 euros so?? How could I not take them with me??

I didn’t just buy comics though! I also got a new Totoro notebook, a Pikachu phonestrap, some new clothes (including a shirt with Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Batgirl on it), a moleskine planner which I’ve wanted for a while now and a new notebook that I’m in love with so I’ll shall show it soon.

On Wednesday we did go to the beach, though about two hours in it started to rain terribly even though they said it wouldn’t rain until later that evening (#dutchweatherbelike) so we ended up waiting inside for it to stop (and were joined by two old guys because I was stupid and wanted to sit on a comfy sofa and in the end I didn’t even get to sit on the comfy side because when I got back from the toilet they were sitting there :( I was debating with my mom whether or not I should get ice cream, one of them said ‘that’s not good for your diet’ where did I ask)ย The weather cleared up though and all in all it was a nice day.

If you follow me on Instagram you may notice that my hair had gotten pretty long

My hair was in a ponytail here so it was actually longer. Yep, past tense because on Thursday I got a haircut. My hair was just waaay too long. I could barely do anything with it and it was taking forever to wash and dry it. I tried looking for a picture where you can properly see how much shorter it is but I failed haha. It’s still long though! I’m just no Rapunzel anymore #rip

On Friday my mom, grandfather and I went to castle De Haar which was absolutely beautiful. Also as a history and castles nerd I loved every minute of it. Sadly we couldn’t see everything of it because my grandfather is a heart patient so he couldn’t walk through the entire castle and garden, and we didn’t want to leave him all by himself while we looked around since that’s a bit rude.

I may write a Travelling Hufflepuff about it (though maybe,ย maybe I should write those about London first #rip)

Finally, but definitely not least, DESCENDANTS 2 CAME OUT. You may not remember or maybe you weren’t following me back then, but back when the first movie came out I reviewed/fangirled about it.ย I have so much love for this franchise and this sequel? Spectacular. Even better than the first. Old and new characters shined (CHINA AND THOMAS WERE SO GOOD I’M IN LOVE), the soundtrack and choreography were even better than last time, the story was so much fun, the sets and costumes were on point and basically my obsession is even worse than last time. I hate that I ย have to wait two more years again haha (I really hope it won’t be more than two years).

I ACTUALLY WROTE. Not much, but I still wrote. Also changed my NaNo goal to 15.000 because there’s no way I’m going to be able to write 25.000. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to reach 15.000 either, since my month has been a lot busier than expected, but I’m planning on taking it a bit easier this week and spend more time writing, blogging and reading. I need some time relaxing at home haha.

Oh also I started planning a new novel hahahahaha

And that’s a wrap! How has your week been? What have you been reading? HAVE YOU SEEN DESCENDANTS 2ย

Christmas 2015

Ah such an original title. Fun fact: I first typed 2016. YES I’M SECRETLY FROM THE FUTURE BUT I MUST KEEP THIS A SECRET. Which I just failed to do. Um. I’M JUST JOKING I’M NOT FROM THE FUTURE.

Anyway! I’ll start with the promised pictures of our Christmas tree, because a Christmas tree is the start of it all! At least it doesn’t feel like Christmas to me until our tree is up.

Under our tree we have my Christmas themed plushies haha. The hamsters are new (they’re the mascots for one of our biggest supermarket chains) but all the others were collected over the years. I think you can see the theme haha.

Here’s a picture of our entire tree plus the presents for my mom, grandfather, me and the people we got for Secret Santa. You can’t see the topper in this picture, but we want a new one anyway as it doesn’t go with the rest of the tree anymore.

The angel in the top right corner was made by me when I was little haha. It’s been a part of the tree ever since. Also, take a good look at Aurora. She seems to be missing something… Like part of a limp.

Of course I looked forward to Christmas because it meant spending time with my family (except for my mom and grandfather I don’t see the others that often!) but… I was also really excited because I could wear my Weasley jumper (not that I haven’t worn it already, but it feels so much more magical to wear it on Christmas itself haha).

christmas

We spent Christmas at my aunt’s, where we had lots of food (I really shouldn’t have eaten that much chocolate before dinner…), laughed a lot and of course opened presents. My six-year old cousin received all this stuff so he could be a knight (another sword, a shield and a helmet) so naturally I found myself sword fighting later on. If he had had a real sword I would be missing my hand now, let’s leave it at that haha. My mom was the victim later on, and he promised her he would bring his swords at New Years Eve so they can fight again (if he challenges me I shall bring out my wand. Just kidding, I’ll remind him how good my mom is. I’d like to keep my hand, thank you).

I got books (no surprise there). And some other book-related goodies.

The books I got are: A Thousand Nights, The Ask and the Answer, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Shatter Me and Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda. All in all I’m a happy bookworm! I also got sticky notes, new bookmarks and a mug.

I had to hold a photoshoot with A Thousand Nights though, because LOOK HOW GORGEOUS IT IS.

I hope the story itself is just as beautiful!

Before dinner my cousin wasย really hyperactive. At some point he claimed that we had to hide (‘Nah, I don’t have to. You go hide.’) which resulted in this gem:

If you can’t see him, you might have to zoom in haha. You may think he was that hyper because of the presents awaiting him, but nope, at this point we had already opened them!

We also held a photoshoot with him as a photographer (he refused to be in a picture himself). Though eventually my fabulous pose must have inspired him because he asked me to take a picture of him.

Then it was finally time for dinner (this is making me hungry – doesn’t help that it’s dinner time as I’m writing this). LOOK AT THOSE SHRIMP. Shrimp are very popular in our family. I feel like we all have some kind of obsession with them haha. This may not look like a lot to some of you, but there are only seven of us, and my six-year old cousin and grandfather don’t eat that much. Plus this picture is without desert. We had homemade ‘koekjespudding’ (I couldn’t find a translation, but literally it means ‘cookies pudding’).
My cousin actually wanted to play hide-and-seek after dinner, but I was too full to move. So that’s when my mom became his next sword-fighting victim haha. Lucky for her, my cousin had to go home so he could go to bed on time (seriously, he wasn’t even tired when they left. HOW. He was just a ball of energy throughout theย entire evening).

So that was my day! I hope you all had as much fun as I did. Let me know in the comments how your Christmas was!ย
