Characters I Would Fight You For

Look, I’m not a violent person. I literally can’t hurt a fly. I’ll open a window and wave my arms around the fly towards the window hoping it will fly out the window. But if you talk bad about these characters there’s a chance I’ll fight you. At least mentally

Harry Potter

Maybe you’re thinking: Michelle, who hates Harry frickin’ Potter?? Well lots of people apparently! A while back I was looking for annoying YA characters for a tag (my mind was going blank so I needed inspiration) and I found Harry on pretty much every list?? And of course the reason he was on there was because of his behaviour in Order of the Phoenix.

HE. HAS. PTSD. AND. IS. AN. ABUSE. VICTIM

Yes, he shouldn’t blow up at people and having PTSD isn’t an excuse for it, but it is a reason. He’s 15 years old, having dealt with a lot of traumatic crap already and now he’s finally blowing up. Order of the Phoenix Harry shows us how human Harry is and that watching Cedric die, facing Voldemort once again and this time with his full powers restored, being surrounded by Death Eaters, seeing his dead parents come out of Voldemorts wand… That was all just too much for him and he can’t handle it anymore.

Another complaint is that Harry won’t go to Dumbledore about Umbridge because he doesn’t want to bother him. He grew up in an abusive household, where he wasn’t even allowed to ask questions, let alone ask for help or go to the Dursley’s with his problems. Not to mention he already felt like a bother to Dumbledore since he was avoiding him.

I swear I will fight you for my son Harry Potter

Ron Weasley

I know Ron has flaws, but let’s not forget that he’s incredibly loyal to his friends? And he won’t take any crap from pure-blood supremacists? His wand was broken and he still tried to hex Malfoy, even though he knew it could backfire badly. He stood on a frickin’ broken leg and used himself as a shield to protect Harry from a supposed mass-murderer who was supposed to be an expert at the Dark Arts. Yes, he lets his jealousy get to him sometimes, but he’s only human. He wrote his mom to make sure Harry would get Christmas presents. He broke Harry out and invited him to his home. That boy would do anything for his friends.

Is this Ron protecting Harry from Sirius or me protecting Ron from the haters

Heroes of Olympus characters that aren’t Percy and Annabeth (and Leo before Blood of Olympus came out)

Especially on Tumblr I saw a lot of hatred towards these characters, for the most ridiculous reasons. I’ve already talked about Piper in my Book Aesthetics Tag, so I won’t repeat myself. But why would you hate on the cinnamon rolls that are Hazel and Frank?? That’s an actual question. If you hate/dislike them, could you please tell me why?

People hate on Jason because he’s ‘a boring version of Percy’. I’m pretty sure Riordan meant for Percy and Jason to be pretty similar, except they were each other Greek and Roman versions and thus perfect to take each other’s place and bring the two camps together. Personally I love my dorky son Jason who tried to eat a stapler.

Leo was really loved, until the events of Blood of Olympus. I get why people were angry, but the hatred I saw was a bit too much back then. He was the fandoms golden child before Blood of Olympus though, and the other four took all the heat.

Of course you don’t have to like all these characters! Everyone has different opinions but personally I find hatred a bit much? They’re not Octavian

Agatha Wellbelove

Okay I know I’ve already talked about her in my Book Aesthetics Tag as well, but like Piper I didn’t want to leave her out. I get not liking her or not being interested in her, but hatred? She isn’t The Mage (yes I’m repeating myself but,,) I mean the girl just wanted to live a quiet life with a cute dog and realised she deserved better than being the hero’s reward at the end of the quest.

If you do hate these characters, that’s fine! I won’t actually fight you (really hope I didn’t scare you lmao) I’ll just start screaming on the inside  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Which characters would you fight someone for? If you do dislike/hate these characters, why? (seriously don’t worry I won’t fight you) Let me know in the comments!

THE ORIGINAL QUESTIONS

1. If you could meet anyone from throughout history, who and why?

There are so many people I’d love to meet, but Oscar Wilde is probably at the top of my list. I just love him so much, both as a person and a writer and sometimes it really bums me out that we live in different time periods.

2. What is your favorite book and why?

If I had to choose one book (and not series) it would be The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I just can’t help it. This book and Charlie resonate with me so much. It makes me feel things that not many books do and just fgkjdxgx

3. Who is your favorite fiction character from any medium and why?

Oh boy do I really have to choose? I have so many! Though right now I love all the kids on Andi Mack so I’m going to go with them because I love my babies

CÁTIA’S QUESTIONS

1. What book have you read that made you want to travel to the place in the book?

So many! Obviously Harry Potter made me want to go to Hogwarts, Anna and the French Kiss made me want to go to Paris, The Heroes of Olympus series made me want to go to Greece and revisit Rome (I mean I always want to go back to Rome but) and there are so many others! I just want to go to so many places and books set there (and in other places) just make me want to go even more.

2. If you could start your blog journey all over again what would you change or do differently? Would you have started earlier?

Part of me does wish I had started earlier, but things would have been so different. I would’ve been a different person, less aware of certain issues going around in the world, I had a different reading taste and well, I think this blog would’ve been very different and maybe not in a good way. Also I may not have met the people I’ve met now, because things would’ve gone differently and we might not have stumbled upon each other’s blogs – the idea alone makes me sad!

If I could start over I would be more organised – in planning and scheduling posts, my blog’s design, tags, categories, features etc. I also would’ve gotten involved in the (book) blogging community right away, as at first I had no idea there even was a community.

3. What is your biggest dream and how are you working on its realization?

Becoming a writer and um… by writing? Though not much? Being a writer is my biggest dream, but I also want to be a journalist and since that’s what I’m studying well… I have to focus on that throughout the school year. I’m really excited for this summer vacation so that I can get back into writing though!

I TAG…

Closet Readers | May | Nisha | Balie | Krysti | Hannah

Don’t feel obligated to do this!

MY QUESTIONS

Almost forgot these woops haha

  1. What is your favourite book you read so far this year?
  2. What is a song that you can listen over and over to?
  3. If you could turn one book into a tv show/movie, which one and how do you picture it?

What about you guys? If you could meet anyone from throughout history, who would you choose? And what is your biggest dream? Let me know in the comments!

What I’ve Been Up To | Recap

Ah guys this feels so weird. My last post wasn’t even that long ago, but?? It sure feels that way? And I posted quite regularly in February too (at least more regularly than I expected) but this sure feels foreign.

I’m not going to go ‘YAY I’M BACK’ because? I don’t think I am? I definitely want to be back and I am for now, but the new term starts next week and I don’t even dare to hope to have time and energy to blog lmao.

So what have I been up to since my last wrap up in January? (well technically it was in February but I wrapped up January so…)

SCHOOL

Can we take a look at this quote from my January wrap up:

I’m more excited about this term, since most of the classes seem more fun

*cue maniacal laughter because boy was I wrong* I had one class on politics which was fun, really! But the other two? Advanced research could have been fun, but we had the worst teacher (I kind of wrecked her in the evaluation and I feel a bit bad but?? This is my education we’re talking about and she didn’t know shit??) so that ruined it. Then in the other class we made radio and tv broadcasts and looking back I guess it was fun, but I was so stressed that I couldn’t enjoy it at all. We had deadlines every week and since I’m not that confident in my skills I felt very pressured and  just uggh. I’ve dealt with a stomach ache due to stress throughout the entire term. Not fun. At least I had my friend by my side! Seriously I wouldn’t have wanted to go to school if it hadn’t been for her

One more term left! I definitely need that Summer break

WORK

I’ve mentioned before that I work at the Stedelijk Museum here in Amsterdam which has been fun. There has been some openings for new exhibitions, we went on a gallery tour (which gave me inspiration for a new Blogsterdam post that at this rate will be up in about five years lmao why did I ever think a monthly feature was doable), we had dinner at someone’s house and just had a good time. It’s been a lot of fun.

BUSTED

Okay so I don’t know if I ever mentioned this, but I’ve been a big fan of Busted for years, but by the time I became a fan they had already broken up, so I didn’t think I’d ever get to see them live. BUT THEN THEY GOT BACK TOGETHER AND THEY CAME TO AMSTERDAM AND I DIED. The end.

No but seriously they were amazing and so much fun (so many space cake jokes omg). I’m so happy I got to see them live.

HARRY POTTER THE EXHIBITION

I won’t go into too many details as I’m still planning on doing a separate post (hopefully I’ll actually get to that yikes) but I’m so happy it finally came to The Netherlands! It was a lot fun and I definitely recommend all Dutchies to go (unless you don’t like Harry Potter. In that case I guess you shouldn’t go)

This basically sums it up. I do feel like I’ve forgotten something, but mostly school took over my life. As usual *sighs* BUT. I still enjoy studying journalism, no worries. Also I just realised I still need to wrap up… two months. Ay that ain’t that bad (not as bad as I thought anyway). So get ready for a wrap up (which won’t be that long considering I barely posted and read anything lol)

WHAT HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN UP TO?! WHAT HAVE I MISSED?! Any blog posts you wrote you think I should read? Let me know in the comments!

The Totally Should’ve Book Tag

Thank you Kayleigh, Makayla and Calliope for tagging me! Go check out all their blogs guys. I’m kind of worried that I won’t be able to come up with answers for all of these, but we’ll see haha.

1) A book that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE had a sequel

My mind is already going blank help. OH CARRY ON. But I don’t just want a sequel. I want prequels too since this takes place in their final year. And then a sequel. I don’t care if it’s just Simon, Baz and Penny hanging out. I need it.

2) A book/series that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE had a Spin-Off series

Okay but, does it surprise anyone when I say Harry Potter? Because I’m still waiting for a Marauders book series.

3) An author who TOTALLY SHOULD write more books

All of them. Okay not all of them but all my faves. Also it’s time for Rainbow Rowell to publish another book *hint hint* And what is Stephen Chbosky doing? I know Francesca Zappia is writing and hopefully a new book will be out soon. J.K. Rowling and Rick Riordan are busy writing (bless Uncle Rick for bringing out two books every year). Seriously I want more books from all my faves, though I don’t except Rick Riordan to write even MORE every year. The poor man deserves a break.

4) A character who TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ended up with someone else

Whoever that girl was that ended up with Aspen (I forgot her name sorry). She was a cinnamon role and I hate Aspen with a passion. She deserved better (I can’t think of other ships that I didn’t agree with haha)

5) A book/series that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE ended differently

The Maze Runner trilogy sort of? OH THAT REMINDS ME OF A BETTER OPTION FOR QUESTION 4. BUT SPOILERS. I’M SO PISSED ABOUT IT. Okay spoiler in white: Newt and Teresa deserved better, and Thomas should’ve ended up with one of them #TeamThomesa #TeamNewtMas not #ThomasandBrendaWhateverTheirShipNameIsWhoCaresNotMe Why did two rounded, interesting characters have to die and why did Brenda-I’m-Only-Here-To-Establish-A-Love-Triangle-Wait-What’s-Her-Last-Name get to live

6) A book/series that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE had a movie franchise

Percy Jackson. What do you mean there are already PJ movies? Hahaha don’t be silly those don’t exist outside of our nightmares*

* No offence to the cast especially Logan Lerman and to the people who enjoyed the movies

7) A book/series that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE had a TV show

HARRY POTTER. Harry PotterHarry Potter. And did I mention Harry Potter? They would be able to include SO MUCH MORE if they made it into a tv show. I mean I love the cast, but I need this. I mean obviously I’d also be terrified if they did this but still. I NEED IT.

8) A book/series that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE only have one point of view

Uuuh I have no idea help

9) A book/series that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE had a cover change

The Parasol Protectorate series.

I’m just not a fan of these covers. BUT I LOVE THESE BOOKS SO MUCH. Maybe I should do a reread so I can write a post on why you should read these too (they would also make a fab tv show by the way)

10) A book/series that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE kept the original covers

I really don’t have an answer for this one

11) A series that TOTALLY SHOULD’VE stopped at book #1

I can’t think of any, so I’m going to steal Kayleigh’s answer and say that The Selection should’ve stopped after The One. I still haven’t read the last two, but I also don’t really have the motivation. The story was over. It was nicely wrapped up. There was no need for more books. I don’t think I’ve heard anything positive about the last two either.

Aaand I won’t be tagging anyone specific again. I’m really sorry, but I’m lazy and looking up who to tag takes quite some time and I’m just trying to get as many posts scheduled as I can (I’m writing this in August. AUGUST. This will go up in October. I’m so proud of myself) but if you want to do this consider yourself tagged!

What are some of your answers to these? What is a tv show or movie adaptation you really want to see? Let me know in the comments!

Around The World In YA Books Tag

Thank you Cátia for tagging me and sorry that it took me like a year to do this. If you haven’t yet, check out her blog!

The Rules

List a country, and then show which favourite book of yours is set in that country. You can use the countries I have used, add your own, or use completely different ones!

FRANCE

How can I not go with Anna and the French Kiss? Speaking of which, it’s time for a reread… Though of course I could also go with Scarlet, another favourite, though I feel more like I’m in France while reading Anna then while reading Scarlet.

CANADA

I recently read Anne of Green Gables, and while I didn’t think I would like it at first since the beginning was pretty slow, I fell in love.

CHINA

Like Cátia, I’m going with Cinder. Sadly I haven’t read that many books set in China (if any besides Cinder? My memory is terrible), but this one is also one of my favourites of course.

THE UK

I could be original and not go with Harry Potter, but where’s the fun in that?

JAPAN

Harriet goes to Japan in Model Misfit and it’s GLORIOUS. I love Japan and it really felt like I was there with Harriet. I love Harriet, her story and the supporting characters by themselves, but in Japan? Sign me up

Okay so I won’t tag anyone specific again, so if you want to do this, feel free to do so! What is a country you want more YA books set in? Let me know in the comments!

Guest Post: Myers-Briggs and Hogwarts by Elisabeth Wheatley

I came late to the Harry Potter party, but seven books, eight movies, one Pottermore account, a Slytherin tie, a Golden Trio snow globe, and various HP shirts later, here I am. While I was still getting into the Harry Potter fandom, I started reading the research of Dr. Kiersey, one of the foremost Myers-Briggs authorities.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with it, the sixteen personalities outlined by Myers-Briggs are determined by extroversion/introversion (E/I), sensing/intuitive (S/N), thinking/feeling (T/F) and judging/perceiving (J/P).  These sixteen personalities fall into four subcategory temperaments—Artisans, Idealists, Rationals, and Guardians. They can have different names in different scoring systems, but that’s the one I will use. While reading, I realized that the four temperaments translated remarkably well to the archetypes of the four Hogwarts houses. Let’s take a look.

Gryffindor “Courage and Daring”—SP “Artisans”

Those of the SP “artisan” temperament are the most impulsive  people you will ever meet. Kind of like most Gryffindors. They tend to pay less attention to status and generally see others as equals. With a penchant for boldness and unconventional ideas, they embody the Gryffindor tendency for bravery—often because they simply don’t stop to consider consequences. (Harry Potter is generally believed to be an SP and I have to concur.)

Ravenclaw “Wisdom and Knowledge”—NF “Idealists”

The Ravenclaw desire for knowledge can also be associated with the “rational” personality type. However, Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, and also what we know of Rowena Ravenclaw fits the “idealist” best. NF’s are the natural poets, dreamers, and empaths of the world. Often dubbed bookworms, they soak in the world on a conceptual, almost spiritual level. Their primary drive is the betterment and discovery of self, the question of “who am I?” Definitely Ravenclaw.

Slytherin “Cunning and Ambition”—NT “Rationals”

Dr. Kiersey writes that the NT “rational” personality type revolves around power—be it the possession of power, an attraction to power, or simply understanding of how it works. I cannot think of anything more Slytherin. NT’s value competence above all else, in themselves as well as in those around them. They also often share the highly Slytherin trait of cloudy morality and fudging the rules. However, they can still make imaginative, devoted romantic partners and fiercely loyal friends.

As a Slytherin ENTJ, I can confirm everything in this section firsthand. Don’t look at me like that. I use my powers for good, I swear!

Hufflepuff  “Loyality and Courage”—SJ “Guardians”

Like Hufflepuffs, SJ’s often get taken for granted. Described as “the bedrock of society” by Dr. Kiersey, SJ’s are the ones who embrace order, routine, and stability. They are the most faithful and devoted of the temperament types and while they can definitely be a riot to hang out with, they take their responsibilities very seriously. Without SJ’s, the rest of us would quite literally die since we mostly have them to thank for hospitals, schools, and—well—society itself.

Now, this isn’t to say all the characters were sorted according to temperament type. I’m pretty sure Hermione was an SJ and Tonks was probably an SP, but the house archetypes definitely align.

So do you know your personality type and Hogwarts house? Let us know in the comments. It’s for science!

Take the Kiersey Temperament Sorter!

Elisabeth Wheatley began what would be her first novel at eleven and hasn’t stopped writing since. When she’s not daydreaming of elves, vampires, and/or hot guys in armor, she can be found wasting time on the internet, fangirling over her latest obsession, and pretending to be a functional citizen. You can find her lurking on her blog, Inkspelled Faery

My Harry Potter Life Tag

Guys I created another tag (yes even though I have tags from like last year that I still need to do)! This time it’s to determine what your Harry Potter live would look like.

HOW IT WORKS

You pick four books and follow the instruction for each question.

MY FOUR BOOKS

1. The Raven Boys
2. The Last Ever After
3. Carry On
4. Winter

1. YOUR WAND

Open book 1 at a random page. The first noun you see will be what your wand is made of

Okay so my wand is made of ‘breeze’. Wonder how that will work. Maybe I’m an Airbender

2. YOUR PET

Does book 2 have animals? One of those animals will now be your pet. If the book doesn’t have any animals, then I’m sorry but your pet-less.

I know The Last Ever After has several animals, but the only ones I can remember are the rats. I do not want rats as pets. After doing some research I remembered that Agatha had a cat, so I’ll have a cat

Or two. Or more

3. YOUR HOGWARTS HOUSE

Open book 3 at a random page. Whatever House you’d think the character’s name you first see belongs to, is your House (woah that’s a weird sentence, hope that made sense)

Simon Snow. Honestly, I see Simon as a little Puff like me (and I’m not just saying that to keep my House lol). I mean he can be a Gryffindor too, of course, but in my heart he’s a Puff (don’t ask me for arguments I need to reread the book)

4. MAKE YOUR GOLDEN TRIO COMPLETE

Open book 4 at a random page. The first two names will be your best friends and complete your squad. If there’s only one name at said page, open another random page.

I swear if one of the first two I see is Levana… Cinder oh thank the Stars. And Kai!

I love my little trio

5. YOUR HEAD OF HOUSE

Open book 1 at a random page. The first name you’ll see will be your Head of House

Gansey. I think he’d make a pretty decent Head of House, if he’s even at Hogwarts and not looking for Glendower

6. YOUR ‘DRACO MALFOY’

Naturally you’ll need your arch nemesis/school rival. Open book 2 at a random page, the first name you’ll see will be your enemy.

AGATHA WHY I’VE ALWAYS LOVED YOU WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS *whispers* We’ll work through this

7. YOUR PATRONUS

Open book 3 at a random page. The first living creature you’ll see will be your Patronus

Penny. Penny is my Patronus haha. She’ll keep me save *nods* (also I love her and she’s one of my spirit animals so this is pretty accurate)

8. WILL YOU WIN THE HOUSE CUP?

How many pages does book 4 have? That’s how many points you’ll House have at the end of the school year. If the book has more than 400 pages it will have won the Cup, congrats!

824 pages that House Cup is mine Muggles

(honestly never thought that I’d ever use a gif of Voldemort laughing but here we are)

I TAG

Angel | Aentee | Elly | Eve | Evi | Sophie | Victoria | Whoever wants to do this!

Once again, if I tagged you don’t feel obligated to do this!

Fictional Characters as Olympians

So Fadwa had the amazing idea to do a list of her favourite characters as Olympians, and in the end she turned it into a tag by tagging several bloggers. Thank you so much for tagging me Fadwa! Also if you’re not familiar with her awesome blog yet, go check it out. I couldn’t think of any character for the ‘cycling’ category, so I replaced it with ‘swimming’.

SHOOTING

It took me a while to think of a character who had ever used a gun, so when I finally thought of Scarlet Benoit I felt stupid. I’m sorry for not thinking of you sooner Scar, I love you.

MARATHON

Todd Hewitt and Viola Eade. Slightly cheating here by choosing two characters, but these two must have great stamina after the events of the Chaos Walking trilogy and I assume could run really fast.

TAEKWANDO

My first thought was Annabeth Chase (there are way too many Riordan characters here haha). I don’t know if she knows taekwando, but she can fight so I’m choosing her.

GYMNASTICS

I can see Luna Lovegood being a gymnast? Especially a rhythmic gymnast.

ARCHERY

For this one I have to go with the God of Archery, Apollo himself. Though if he were to compete it would be a little unfair, so maybe his son Will Solace would be better? Okay let’s not think TOO hard about this haha

EQUESTRIAN (DRESSAGE)

Hazel Levesque, though not on Arion since he’s the fastest horse on the planet (if you haven’t read the Heroes of Olympus series, he’s unnaturally fast) that would be unfair.

FENCING

Celaena Sardothien is the first to come to mind. She’s great with a sword, so I think she’d be pretty good at fencing too.

SWIMMING

I have to go with Percy Jackson of course. Maybe a bit unfair since he’s a son of Poseidon, but hey I’m letting Apollo enter as well, so why not. Plus in The Hidden Oracle he’s on the swim team so hey, who knows maybe the Olympics are in Percy’s future

I tag whoever wants to do this!

#ReadThemAllThon Sign up and TBR Pile

So the awesome Aentee had the amazing idea to organise a readathon inspired by Pokémon. Naturally I have to participate. How can I not? Click on her name to be taken to her explanation post. The readathon runs from August 14th to September 4th which is perfect, because school starts again the next day.

Chosen Pokémon

I love all the Kanto starters, but since I always pick a water Pokemon as my starter, Squirtle has a special place in my heart (I don’t have a Squirtle plushie yet and this definitely needs to change soon. Same with Charmander). Aentee has added something extra to win points (CP: combat power) Since Squirtle has three evolutions I’d be able to get more points, since you get extra points when your Pokémon evolves. You get those points from each 10 pages you read and other little challenges (check out her post for all the details!)

The Gyms a.k.a. the Challenges

For this readathon I’m mostly going to try to read books I already own, since I need to save money (for London in October!) and those unread books deserve some love.

Pewter Gym: The First Book In A Series

Merlin: The Lost Years. It’s been on my shelves for two years now I think. It’s time I finally read it. I do have more first books in series on my kindle app (yay for Amazon freebies lol), but seriously, I need to read this and a readathon is the perfect opportunity.

326 pages, potential +32CP

Cerulean Gym: A Book That Might Make You Cry

Les Miserables, which again has been on my shelves for quite some time (about as long as Merlin I think haha. Though I put Merlin off because back then I was still waaay too attached to BBC Merlin (still am. I can’t see any other actors portray those characters) and Les Mis because it’s so intimidating) Even though its size is incredibly daunting, it’s time to at least start it. I’m going to be realistic and not aim to actually finish this, but I want to at least start it. IT’S TIME. And I know it will make me cry because the film did and I’m very emotional.

According to Goodreads my copy has 1263 pages, so potential +123CP (not like I’m going to read 1263 pages anyway lol)

Vermillion Gym: A Book With Thunderous Hype

Wink Poppy Midnight. I’m not sure if it’s still hyped, but a few months ago before it was published I saw it on a lot of blogs. Also it’s quite short which is ideal for a readathon.

247 pages, potential +24CP

Celadon Gym: A Book That Focuses on Diversity

I HAVE NOTHING. NOTHING. Not on my shelves, Kindle app or ibooks app anyway (that is unread) so please recommend me something (that is a bit popular so that I can find it here in The Netherlands). Only for this challenge I’ll go out and buy something

Fuschia Gym: A Book With A Great Romance

Persuasion. Fun fact: I tried to read this two years ago for another readathon but I wasn’t in the mood. I really want to read more of the classics I own (just remembered that that is one of my 2016 goals lol) and I loved P&P, so I need to read more Jane Austen anyway

249 pages, potential +24CP

Saffron Gym: A Book With Fantasy/Supenatural Elements

Talisman by S.E. Akers. It sounds like an interesting read and has good ratings on Goodreads (though not that many). I really hope that it is interesting since it has 600+ pages and if it’s a slow read it’s not a good choice for a readathon… If I really can’t get through it I’ll drop it and choose another freebie on my Kindle app though, since I’ve got quite a few fantasy reads to choose from.

642 pages, potential +64CP

Cinnabar Gym: A Book With A Red Cover

Harry Potter Film Wizardry. This will most likely be a quick read, so perfect to balance out some of the bigger ones.

160 pages, potential +16CP

Viridian Gym: A Book With Post-Apocalyptic Setting

Born to Magic. This one was quite difficult since I didn’t think I had one, but I looked through my Kindle app and searched for each one of them on Goodreads and voila: Born to Magic was found. It takes place in the future when technology no longer exists, but magic does.

345 pages, potential +34CP

Well it’s a good thing this readathon lasts three weeks because this is a very ambitious tbr (lightly put lol). Are you participating? Let me know in the comments!

Book Courtship Tag

Quite some time ago I was tagged by Josie from Josie’s Book Corner. Thank you and sorry it took me so long! Because when I say ‘quite some time ago’ I mean like a year woops. Fun fact: I had already started this post, but then forgot or something? I don’t know what happened. Anyway don’t forget to check out her amazing blog!

Phase One: Initial Attraction: A book you bought because of the cover

*laughs maniacally as she looks at all the pretty books on her shelves*

I mean, the cover is the first thing you see, so of course a lot of books’ covers drew me in. BUT! I do not buy a book solely because of it’s cover. I grab something because of the cover, then if the blurb sounds good, I’ll buy it.

a thousand nights

Sadly, though it sounded good, it wasn’t.

Phase Two: First Impressions: A book you got because of the summary

Pretty much every book ever haha.

Phase Three: Sweet Talk: A book with great writing

Thankfully I know quite a few for this category, but I’ll go with The Book Thief, because it is one of my favourite stand-alones (second favourite after The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and it’s beautifully written. Sadly I have the movie cover so it’s not that pretty…

ONE DAY I’LL OWN A PRETTY EDITION.

Phase Four: First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pursue the rest of the series

Oh gosh so many boooks. Actually not that many. Of course I could go with the expected answer that is Harry Potter, but let’s go with Percy Jackson. I immediately bought the rest of the series when I finished The Lightning Thief.

Phase Five: Late night phone calls: A book that kept you up all night long

Definitely The Ask and the Answer. Not all night long though. I never stay awake that long haha.

Phase Six: Always on my mind: A book that you could not stop thinking about

carry on

I couldn’t stop thinking about Carry On for a while after I finished it. I was just so high on Snowbaz feels.

Phase Seven: Getting Physical: A book in which you love the way it feels

Oooh again every book ever. I just love the way books feel and I always pet them.

Phase Eight:  Meeting the Parents: A book in which you would recommend to your friends and family

I was going to say Harry Potter, but then I saw the next question. I’m going to go with The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which is my favourite standalone. I’d honestly throw this book at everyone if I didn’t have a no-throwing-books-policy.

Phase Nine: Thinking about the future: A book or series that you know you’ll re-read many times in the future

Does it surprise anyone when I say Harry Potter

Phase Ten: Share the love! Here’s who I am tagging

The Jouska | Holly | Victoria | Liam | Carrianna | Aria

Don’t feel obligated to do this!

What book did you recently purchase because of it’s cover? And which one would you throw at everyone you ever met? Let me know in the comments!
