I’m Slowly Catching Up – Liebster Award

Thank you Richard, Louisse and Alex for nominating me!  I’ve decided to take a few questions that I’ve answered before out, since this post is going to be very long anyway

Richard’s questions:

1. Favourite Book?

Series: Harry Potter. Standalone: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

2. What famous-for-being-famous “celebrity” do you hate the most?

No one. I’m not that familiar with these kind of celebrities so I can’t hate them.

3. If you could have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Hmm. Honestly I’d get bored of everything at some point haha. Yes, even chocolate

Me after my 3252543457 chocolate bar in a row because I’m not allowed to eat anything else

4. Popular or acclaimed film that you did not like?

Hmm I don’t know. I don’t watch that many films in the first place. I do have to admit that while I liked it I’m not as excited about Inside Out as everybody else is/was. I enjoyed The Good Dinosaur more (if we were to compare Disney releases of the same year)

5. Advice or tips you wish you would have had when starting blogging?

Try to get as involved in the community as you can. There ARE others out there haha (seriously in the beginning I found it so difficult to find other book bloggers!)

6. What person in history would like to meet, and why?

Van Gogh. He’s my favourite artist and an inspiration.

7. Which fictional character do you see yourself as?

Hermione Granger, Cath Avery, Rory Gilmore and Penelope Bunce

8. What underrated book or film do you like, and you would want others to check out?

Stuck in Love is my favourite movie besides The Perks of Being a Wallflower and SO UNDERRATED. Most people don’t even know it exists. But it’s so beautiful and inspiring and I loved it so much (that said it’s been a while since I’ve seen it so don’t quote me on this)

Louisse’s questions:

1. Which scene in a book really made you cry and why?

A lot of scenes make me cry, but since I don’t want to spoil anyone I’m going with the Mirror of Erised scene(s). They always make me cry (who am I kidding everything about Harry Potter makes me cry)

2. What factors make you decide to read or pick a certain book to read?

Summary, mostly. If that doesn’t convince me than reviews of trusted bloggers will.

3. How many TBR books you have right now?

Physically? I’m reaaaally too lazy too count haha.

4. What is your favorite thing about blogging?

Meeting so many lovely people

5. What’s your favorite movie adaptation of a book?

The Perks of Being a Wallflower hands down

6. What is your most favorite series and name your favorite character in that series

Hahahaha time for predictability again: Harry Potter. I can’t choose a favourite character though. I have too many. I love them all

7. Name your favorite top 5 authors

J.K Rowling, Rick Riordan, Patrick Ness, Marissa Meyer and Rainbow Rowell (not necessarily in order)

8. What other stuff you like to do aside from reading?

Writing, blogging, gaming, photography, travelling, to name a few

9. Which book has your most favorite cover? And are you guilty of sometimes buying a book because it has a beautiful cover? If yes, what book is it?

Nooo I can’t choose. I have quite a few beautiful books. No, I’m not. The cover will pique my interest, but if the summary doesn’t make me want to read the book, I won’t pick it up

10. What books do you want to have a cross-over and which world would it be? (Like the characters in a particular book meets the characters of another book in a certain world.)

Oh oh I really want the Rampion Squad to go to Hogwarts. Okay I want all my favourite characters to go to Hogwarts because I love those AUs (if anyone has some good fan fic recs let me know!)

Alex’ questions:

1. Which landmark do you wish was near you?

Versailles. I want to go so badly so it’d be great if it was a little bit nearer haha (I mean France is already pretty close of course)

2. What was the last song you listened to, and which album have you listened to most in your lifetime?

Well right now I’m listening Breathe by Miss A so I’m going to go with that one haha. I really have no idea what album I’ve listened most to!

3. Sentimentally speaking, which is your most prized possession?

My grandmother’s wedding ring

4. What’s one surprising thing about yourself most people don’t know?

Ooh good question. I think most people don’t know how obsessed I am when it comes to fandom haha

5. If you could only choose one food/drink and make it healthy, what would it be?

NO ALEX THIS IS SUCH AN UNFAIR QUESTION. Why can’t all tasty unhealthy food be healthy *sigh* Everything chocolatey. Yes that’s a good answer. Everything that has chocolate in it is now healthy

6. If you could choose your own nickname, what would you want it to be?

Ooh I don’t know. I’m usually called ‘Mich’ (not pronounced like Mish but the i sounds like ee in cheese and ch as an s) and I like that, but I don’t know, Shell is pretty cute too?

7. Is there a quote that has special significance for you?

”Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light”

8. If you own any painting in the world, which one would it be?

Starry Night from Van Gogh. It’s my favourite painting of all times so I would love to own it

9. Which TV character would you most want to hang out with in real life?

Rory Gilmore! We’d get along fine I think

I won’t be tagging anyone, but what food or drink would you make healthy? Let me know in the comments!

Liebster and Infinity Dreams Award

Thank you Kayleigh from Miserable and Magical for tagging me to do a combination of the Liebster and Infinity Dreams award! And thank you Tina from Read the Bloody Book for tagging me to do the regular Liebster Award! Go check out their blogs! Also sorry guys that it took me so long haha.

Kayleigh’s questions:

1) You have to pick one book to read for the rest of your life, what do you pick?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. It has to be a Harry Potter book, and everyone is still happy and innocent (well besides Voldemort and the other baddies of course but ssh). I mean I tear up while reading this one (the only Harry Potter book that doesn’t make me at least tear up is Chamber of Secrets), but less tears than any other of the books haha.

2) (Stolen from Brett) If your life was being made into a movie, who would you cast to play you?

Emma Watson. I mean, I’m basically Hermione and she portrayed her perfectly, so she can play me too? And we’re both feminists and I love her.

3) If you could become a part of any movie/book what would you choose?

It won’t be a surprise if I go with Harry Potter right? I always go with Harry Potter when someone asks me a question like this though, so maybe I should go for a different answer this time?

David Tennant has spoken.

4) What’s the next book on your to-read list?

I’m not sure. Especially since I don’t know when I’m going to schedule this post haha!

5) What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?

Something along the lines of ‘I wanna go back to sleep’ haha.

6) You have a plane ticket going anywhere, what’s the destination?

JAPAN. Because I’ve wanted to go since forever but tickets are expensive. Also the language barrier scares me.

7) (Stolen from Brett) What mythical animal would you like to have as a pet?

DRAGON. I love dragons. They’re beautiful, majestic, powerful and they’d make an awesome pet. Though it would be more like my friend, like Hiccup and Toothless.

8) If you could witness anything that’s happened in the world (so far), what would you want to see?

I’m not sure! Maybe watch Van Gogh paint? He’s my favourite artist and it would be amazing to see him work.

9) If you could wake up tomorrow in the body of someone else, who would you pick and what would you do?

I think I’d freak out if I woke up in someone else’s body! I’m not sure I’d want that haha. But maybe in J.K. Rowling’s body and have a peek at her Harry Potter notes? Though I’d feel guilty as if she hadn’t shared those yet there must be a reason why not…

10) You can only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Shrimp. Though if I had to eat shrimp for the rest of my life I might get sick of it… Which is awful.

Tina’s questions:

1) What house do you think you would be sorted into at Hogwarts? Would you choose to stay in that house?

I’d be in Hufflepuff! Pottermore sorted me there, and I trust that website haha (and there were other quizzes that said Hufflepuff too). I’d definitely stay; Hufflepuffs are underrated sadly, but they’re awesome and kind and loyal and particularly good finders (I’m definitely not though, so as a rare exception I can get the help of my fellow Puffs haha). Not to mention the common room is so cozy! And hey- close to the kitchens. Big plus.

2.) What book would you like to see parodied on a The Simpsons Halloween Special?

Um well I don’t watch The Simpsons so I don’t really care what they parody haha.

3.) What book would you choose to become an animated film? Would you choose Disney, Pixar, or Studio Ghibli?

I think Magonia could be a good Studio Ghibli film!

4.) If nuclear war broke out and you only had space for four in your bunker which three book characters would you allow in?

Oooh this is a cruel question. I have so many book characters that I’d want to save, but many of them either don’t live in our world (good for them!) or could probably take care of themselves/have their own (magical) bunker, so I’m going to go with contemporary characters: Cath from Fangirl, Anna from Anna and the French Kiss and Levi from Fangirl. I’m sorry St. Claire! I’m sure Anna would refuse to leave you behind and get in though.

5.) If you could have any mythical creature as a pet what would it be?

See question 7 from Kayleigh.

6.) What class would you teach at Hogwarts?

Hmm… One of my favourite subjects is History, and I think History of Magic would be a really interesting subject if it wasn’t taught by Binns. So History of Magic it is!

7.) What five authors would make up your ultimate book club? What book would you make them read?

J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, Sarah J. Maas, Cassandra Clare, Rainbow Rowell and Marissa Meyer. I know you said five but…

What would we read? I have no idea! What do you guys think we should read?

8.) If you could live in any fictional world, which would it be?

Haha, I really wish I could give you guys an original answer for once, but the answer to this will always be the Wizarding World.

9.) If you got to add one book to the syllabus of every child what book would you have them read and why?

The first book that came to mind was The Perks of Being a Wallflower- but the question says child, so that’s out. I’ll have to answer Harry Potter again haha. It teaches kids about all kinds of love, that you shouldn’t always trust authority figures and the media, it has great role models like Hermione etc.

10.) Which recently released book (in the past 10 years) do you most hope becomes a classic?

Released in the past 10 years… I’d say either Harry Potter or The Perks, but they were released roughly 20 years ago. So I’m going to go with Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, which I think deserves to become a classic as well!

11.) What are your top three underrated books?

In no order: The Parasol Protectorate series (I can’t really choose one book from the series), The School for Good and Evil (again can’t choose just one book from it) and I Am Princess X.

I’m too lazy to think up my own questions, but if you want to answer any of these questions, and the word ‘book’ is in your blog’s name: I tag you!

A Slightly Late Liebster Award

Thank you Coffeelant for the nomination! I know this is pretty late, as you nominated me in May haha, but I was in the middle of my exams back then and after that sort of forgot about it. Luckily I have a list of all my blog ideas and tags/nominations on Wunderlist!

  • Link back to the person who nominated you.
  • Give 11 random facts about yourself.  (I suck so much at thinking up facts about myself. Especially today I can’t think of any haha)
  • Answer 11 questions from your nominator.
  • Nominate 11 new and obscure bloggers.
  • Come up with 11 questions for them to answer.
  • Inform your nominees.

Because I’m really, really lazy woops.

1. Who is your favorite author?

This won’t be a surprise I think: J.K. Rowling

2. What do you use for reading eBooks?

The one time I read an eBook (send to me by the author for a review), I used the Kindle app on my phone.

3. Who is your favourite book blogger?

Oh so not answering this haha! I don’t have one favourite book blogger; I have many! I will never be able to list them all here without forgetting someone so… Nope, not doing this, sorry! :)

4. What is it that you love about the book community?

So far everyone is incredibly friendly and funny. Ever since I joined I feel like I’ve made tons of friends that I talk to regularly, whether it’s on our blogs, Twitter or Instagram. It’s so nice to meet all these lovely new people and talk to them!

5. If you had to pick, would you choose Marvel or DC?

Hmm… I’m kind of new in this, so I can’t really say yet. Spiderman is my favourite superhero though, so I guess I’d have to pick Marvel? Ask me in a few months when I’ve seen all the superhero movies haha (one day I might read the comics. I’m lazy guys haha)

6. Is there anything that makes you passionate?

So many things! Writing, reading, Harry Potter and Disney to name a few.

7.Where do you like to read?

In my bed haha. Though if the weather is nice I also like reading outside once I get comfortable.

8. Where do you usually shop for your books?

I usually go to the American Book Center or Waterstones (they’re practically across from each other, which is really useful haha). I go to ABC more often though, as they’re usually cheaper and I get a discount.

9. What Starbucks drink describes you perfectly?

Uh I don’t know? Whenever I’m at Starbucks I either order a tea, hot chocolate (WITH WHIPPED CREAM AND CARAMELLY GOODNESS YES) or a frappucino (strawberry or vanilla, though I haven’t tried any others yet). I have no idea which drink would describe me haha.

10. How do you like to write?

Do you mean style or like on paper or computer? I’m going with the latter. If I’m thinking out ideas and such I prefer to write on actual papers, and thus use my notebooks. If I’m actually writing the story itself, I prefer working on my laptop.

11. If you had one choice of having ebooks or physical copies of books for the rest of your life, which would you pick?

Physical copies hands down. I mean, I’ve only read one eBook in my life? Haha. It’s not just that I like the feel and smell of a physical copy, or that they look pretty on my shelves (of course that’s very important!), but I don’t like how it reads. I’m also a really slow reader when it comes to eBooks!

I’ve actually read more than once that people read faster when it comes to eBooks so… What about you? Are you slow like me? Or am I an exception haha.
