All About My TV Shows Tag

I got tagged by the Queen of TV Shows Kat herself, so thank you Kat! If you’re not familiar with her blog, go check it out!

1. First TV show you ever watched

I definitely don’t know what the first one was, but one of the first was of course Pokémon haha. I know there were many other cartoons/anime I watched, but I don’t know which one was first? It might have been Pokémon, but there’s also a good chance it wasn’t. My first tv show might have been the Dutch Sesame Street as well haha. I really wish I remembered!

2. All-time favorite TV show

For a really, really long time this was definitely Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It is still one of my favourite shows, but it has been so long since I’ve seen it, I’m not sure if I’d still call it my number one? I definitely still love it a lot though. It shaped and inspired me in a lot of ways.

My all-time favourite tv show might actually be The Fosters though. I love it to pieces and it’s so so so important. I’ve talked about it before here and I’m considering writing a separate post on it because though it’s not completely unknown, it definitely deserves more love

3. Your character crush

Oh my gosh only one character? And are we talking current or past as well? Because I think as a kid I had a tiny crush on Ash Ketchum (I’m not sure if I approve of that hahaha).

Right now, it’s really hard to pick because I’m pretty much crushing on all the Shadowhunters characters (minus the obvious ones like Valentine and Sebastian – though Will Tudor is making it very, very hard – why is he so cute this is illegal)

4. Favorite OTP

I have so many OTPs that the ‘one’ part has kind of lost its meaning lmao. It’s really, really hard to choose though. It also depends on what I’m currently watching/reading. Like for a while Victuuri from Yuri on Ice were probably my favourite OTP, but since it stopped airing I lost my obsession (now it’s just a healthy love haha). Right now, I’d have to say Malec from Shadowhunters and Trimberly from Power Rangers (please don’t make me choose I already chose two out of the many, many ones I have)

5. Most disappointing ending or cancellation

Most disappointing cancellation is probably (I say probably since it’s not official yet) is BBC Class. It hasn’t been announced yet, but the ratings weren’t great since BBC barely marketed it and there has been no news regarding a second season yet. Even if it does get renewed though, I’ll have mixed feelings about it since it will be without Patrick Ness, the showrunner and writer of all the episodes. Another disappoiting cancellation was Powerless. I saw it coming, but I didn’t think they were just going to quit airing the remaining episodes. Rude. It was such a cute show, with fun references, a fun (and diverse!) cast, and it covered some important issues while still remaining a light show.

Most disappointing ending is definitely How I Met Your Mother and I will leave it at that or I will go into a rant and believe me no one wants that 🙈

6. A show you would like to be on

As in a cast member? Or a crew member? I’m way too shy to actually star on anything haha (also my anxiety is telling me nope no way start running now), but the Shadowhunters cast seems so lovely and fun that I’d love to work with them. Behind the scenes that is

7. A character you would love to take out on a date

Let me take out all my babies, buy them some ice cream and protect them from the scary thing that is the television industry (stop hurting them you monsters)

8. A popular TV show you can’t stand

Hahaha so many? Woops. Though I really, really can’t stand The Big Bang Theory #sorrynotsorry

9. A scene that made you cry like a baby

So many?? I’m super emotional so there are many scenes that made me cry. It’s also hard to choose one without spoiling anyone. Small spoiler for The Fosters (but a good one? And it’s not like you won’t see it coming?) but Stef and Lena’s wedding(s) made me cry like a baby.
There’s also a scene in the Andi Mack finale that I really, really don’t want to spoil. It’s a happy moment as well though, but oh my god I can still cry just thinking about it.

10. A character with a killer wardrobe

I love Petra Solano’s (Jane the Virgin) wardrobe. Not for me though, but still. Jane herself also has a great wardrobe. Bill Potts’ (Doctor Who) wardrobe was on point. Andi Mack (from Andi Mack) has a great wardrobe that I would’ve appreciated greatly at her age (I do on my age as well haha). Callie from The Fosters usually has great outfits too. Oh and how can I forget Queen Lydia Martin!! I also adored Kira’s wardrobe. Wait I was supposed to pick one?

I TAG

What’s a popular tv show you can’t stand? Is there a tv character you’d eat some ice cream with? Let me know in the comments!

TV Shows I’m Currently Watching

Hey guys so I thought I should talk to you about the tv shows I’m currently watching (and convince you to watch them as well, well except for one). I mostly talk about books on here of course, but I love these shows so much that I decided to dedicate a post to them. So in no particular order, let’s go!

THE FOSTERS

I’m not sure when I started to watch The Fosters, either after season 1 had aired or in between 2a and 2b, but I’ve been watching it loyally for a long time now and though there were ups and downs (downs being 3B) I’m still in love with this show. I love how diverse it is and how it tackles important issues. They regularly deal with topics like homophobia, sexism, racism, transphobia and rape. And they do it so well. On top of that (most) of the characters are amazing and loving. The family dynamic is so much fun to watch and even though it deals with dark topics there are also lots of light and funny moments to make up for it. Is it perfect? No. Believe me they have made mistakes (sadly), but that doesn’t change the fact that I think it’s a really important show to watch. Also warning: keep tissues at hand. I know I’m super emotional, but still, I shed a few tears during almost every episodes (not always because it’s sad! A lot of times because it’s beautiful and I’m so attached to these characters – well again most of them)

ACE ATTORNEY

Oh boy where do I start. Okay so I’ve done a post about the games in which I basically tried to convince you guys to play them, because besides Pokemon this is my favourite gaming franchise. I love it SO much. Naturally I was beyond excited when the anime was announced, because I’ve been waiting for YEARS. Sadly while there have been good moments, it’s not the adaptation I wanted. They’re rushing through the storylines and honestly I really wonder how anyone who hasn’t played the games can keep up. I was excited after the first episode, and it kind of went downhill from there (except for episode 13, if you’re a fan of the games but gave up on the anime – can’t blame you – watch it. It’s adorable). Also they make really unnecessary changes, they left out such important plot points AND character background stories/arcs and honestly, I’ve been bored lately. Also really frustrated because they’re really digging their own grave with what they’ve been leaving out. Ace Attorney is SUCH great source material and would’ve made such a terrific anime, if they hadn’t screwed up. Oh well, I’ll continue to watch while waiting for Spiritual Justice to come out.

BINAN KOUKOU CHIKYUU BOUEI-BU LOVE! LOVE!

Speaking of anime, I’m absolutely loving the second season of Binan. I’ve wanted to do a post on the first season for forever now, but I still haven’t gotten around to it. I still will though! While I’m one episode behind, it’s as hilarious as always. If you haven’t heard of Binan, it’s a magical girl anime, except with boys and that it’s a parody. It’s super silly and just such a fun watch. I love it (more on it in my hopefully soon to be posted separate post on it)

JANE THE VIRGIN

I’ve talked a bit about Jane in my previous wrap up, because I’ve been obsessed with it. I just finished season 1 as I’m writing this and oh my God. It’s so good guys. Jane is my new favourite character and Gina Rodriguez is my new favourite actress. Jane is so relatable (at least to me) and all of the characters are so unique and complex. The writing is hilarious and clever. I love the family dynamic. Oh and there are several murders here and there. BUT! Nothing too gruesome. It keeps you at the edge of your seat at all times and just begs you to watch another one. THE ENDING OF SEASON 1 GUYS. I NEED TO CONTINUE WATCHING RIGHT NOW (except I also really needed to blog so here I am). Anyway, just watch it. I’m obsessed so expect me to try and convince you multiple times in the future as well.

UNCONTROLLABLY FOND

Okay so I’m SUPER behind on this one, mainly because of Jane the Virgin. But it’s really good and enjoyable so far. I’ve been waiting so long for this one (Bae Suzy and Kim Woo Bin are among my favourite Kdrama actors. So them being the leads in the same drama? GIMME) so I’m kind of disappointed in myself that I’m behind, but in my defence: Jane was calling my name. Also while it’s beautiful and there are definitely light moments, I have the feeling that it’s going to be sad and I didn’t want that right now. ALSO! The longer I wait the more I can binge watch. But seriously, if you’re looking for a new Kdrama look no further.

SHOWS I’M TECHNICALLY STILL WATCHING BUT HAVEN’T WATCHED IN A WHILE

  • YOUNG JUSTICE: I LOVED season 1 and would recommend it in a heartbeat. I thought it would be one of my favourite shows, but I’m really disappointed with season 2 and am having trouble getting into it. I just loved the original team and they just introduced way too many new characters at once (with half of the original main characters no longer being main characters??). Anyway, I’m still planning on eventually at least trying to watch season 2
  • GILMORE GIRLS: It’s not funny how long it’s taking me to finish season 7. I’m just not enjoying it like previous seasons. I’ve got five episodes left. But I can’t bring myself to watch it. I will watch it before the new show comes out though
  • SUPERGIRL: I’ve watched the first three episodes, and while I liked it, I was also bored? I’m determined to keep watching though. Hopefully it will get better
  • HIGH KICK! THE REVENGE OF THE SHORT LEGGED: A sitcom rather than a Kdrama, I mostly started watching this because I love Krystal and then when I started it I noticed that Lee Jong Suk (who played the lead in Pinocchio, read my review here) is in it as well, who I absolutely loved in Pinocchio, which happens to be my favourite Kdrama alongside Dream High. So far I don’t find it that funny yet and the fact that there are 123 episodes or something really puts me off
  • YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL: I watched the Japanese remake years ago so decided to give the original Kdrama a try. I love Park Shin Hye, but at some point she tried to spit out a fire and that made me kind of nauseous so ever since I’ve been putting it off haha. I will try and watch episode 2 again (hopefully without getting nauseous) soon though, because what I had watched so far was enjoyable

SHOWS THAT ARE ON HIATUS RIGHT NOW:

  • TEEN WOLF: Waiting for the last season! Honestly I’m glad it’s ending. I’m still furious about what happened to Arden (read my post about it on The Feministas here) and shows should end before they go downhill (and honestly it has been going downhill already). I’m not looking forward to not seeing Kira, but it looks intense and you know. STYDIA
  • LIV AND MADDIE: I love this show so much. I am upset about what happened to my ships last season, but it’s still enjoyable. I love the characters and the focus on family and friends. It’s just such a breeze to watch, so I can’t wait to have it back in my life
  • THE REAL O’NEALS: I recently binge watched this and I loved it. Sure it has it’s flaws, but it’s hilarious and mostly positive. I fell in love with the characters so quickly and I laughed out loud so many times.

And that’s my list! Are you watching any of these? Any shows you’d recommend based on these? Just what are you watching in general? Let me know in the comments!

*insert freak out that it’s already July like what even how is this possible*

whatiread

And now I’m realising how behind I am on reviews – eek!

personal

On Monday I went to the Mediamarkt with my mom and grandfather, where my grandfather got to spend his birthday money on music and where I also bought him his birthday gifts. He got quite a lot and needless to say he was very happy. I also bought myself a little something because how could I resist:

Look how adorable she is. I can’t stop staring at her.

While my grandfather and mom were looking at all the cds, I watched Zootopia

Afterwards my grandfather treated us on Starbucks. Sadly the muffin I had wasn’t as good as the last time I had it.

I finally got around to cleaning my room, rearranging my bookshelves etc. I’m thinking of maybe doing a room tour post soon, but I still need to hang up some things, so I’ll probably do it after that.

Other than that I’ve just been relaxing, reading, writing, blogging, watching tv shows (The Fosters was so good omg. And is anyone watching The Real O’Neals? I love it), gaming and other fun stuff. I’m going to meet a friend in less than two hours, so actually I kind of need to hurry up haha.

Oh and I was sorted into Pukwudgie! Any Pukwudgies out there?

writing-3

I continued to work on my outline this week, but I didn’t get to finish it before Nano started. So far I’ve written 2442 words. Friday went really well, yesterday not so much. I’m not really sure what happened haha. I had to focus on a job application, but I’m pretty sure that still should’ve left me with some time. Oh well. I don’t have any plans for tomorrow so hopefully I’ll be able to catch up then! If I don’t forget I’ll share a snippet in Snippet Sunday this evening!

Speaking of writing, yesterday I hosted the first Young Writers Twitter Chat and it was a lot of fun! I’ll be hosting another one next Saturday, again at 9 PM CEST (3 PM EST). There will most likely be a theme this time, which I’ll announce sometime later this week. Hope to see you guys there!

So that was my week! Hopefully I’ll be able to write a lot this week, but I’m also meeting with another friend on Tuesday, maybe going to Haarlem with my Mom and maybe meeting up with another friend, so who knows how much time I’ll actually have (plus it’s likely I’ll get lazy woops)

How was your week been? How is Nano going? Read any good books? Watching a good show? Let me know in the comments!

I can’t believe my first full week of the holidays is already over! I really hope the rest of my holidays won’t fly by this fast, even though I had a good week haha.

whatiread

I finished Monsters of Men and am not okay. Damn was this a rollercoaster of emotions. Every time it looked like things were going to be alright, I looked at the amount of pages I still had left and just

I started The Unexpected Everything yesterday and am enjoying it so far. Friendship, family, dogs and a cute love interest. Plus there’s a pug. But it looks like the pug won’t play a big role. I feel kind of betrayed because it’s on both the cover and back of the book so I expected it to play a bigger role.

personal

This was such a relaxing week. No deadlines, no homework, no exam… I could read, blog and write as much as I wanted. I’ve been keeping up with all the blogs, which makes me feel so accomplished haha. I’ve been searching for a job as well. Oh and I’ve been putting books on Marktplaats (a Dutch website where you can sell old stuff), so basically I feel like I’ve been very productive this week.

Yesterday we celebrated the birthday of a friend of my mom’s, where I ate waaay too much. I hadn’t eaten that much yet when we got there, so yeah

This was me

And today we’ll be booking our flight and hotel for our trip to London! My aunt and cousin should be here in less than two hours, so that should be fun.

Oooh and oh my God do any of you watch The Fosters because it was INTENSE and I need the next episode now (which looks like a horror movie like what even?? I’M SO SCARED).

writing-3

It feels so good to be able to add this section again! I’ve been working on the outline for my contemporary wip that I mentioned here and it’s been so much fun. I also shared a snippet of it for Snippet Sunday. Hopefully I’ll be able to write a lot this week as well.

I’m still debating whether or not I should participate in Camp Nano, and if so, what wip to work on. I really want to finally finish The Army of Quermo, but then again I’m also really in the mood to work more on the contemporary woops. Are you participating in Camp Nano?

The Weekly Hufflepuff #23

One day late because I came home exhausted yesterday. I’m already proud I’m writing this on Monday and not like.. Saturday (which would be pointless considering the next one is on Sunday).

whatiread

I finished Miss Peregrine’s and really enjoyed it. Now I need to get my hands on the sequels…

I started and finished A Thousand Nights. I finished it pretty quickly last night because I skipped entire paragraphs. I just read the first sentence, realised it wasn’t important and skipped it. IT WAS SO BORING OH MY GOD. I’m looking forward to ranting reviewing it

After that I wanted to make sure that my next read would be something I’d enjoy, so since I’ve wanted to reread The Perks of Being A Wallflower for a while now, I decided now was the time.

personal

I had to write a court report which meant I had to go to a trial. Though it was exciting, after many years of (obsessively) playing Ace Attorney I was a bit disappointed that no one yelled OBJECTION and that there was no showdown between the prosecutor and defence attorney or that it turned out that one of the witnesses had done it… Kidding about he last part of course haha

This week I have to write another report, but it can be anything as long as it’s newsworthy. So yesterday I went to the prizegiving of  ‘Het Roze Lieverdje’, which is an award for someone who has done a lot for the LGBTQ community in Amsterdam. If I have the time and energy (and if my memory doesn’t fail me) I’ll write a post about it on The Feministas. It was definitely a good experience, so I hope I don’t forget to write about it!

GUYS TEEN WOLF. This almost the same as last week’s paragraph about Teen Wolf haha. BUT THE EPISODES ARE SO ON POINT LATELY. It’s like old school Teen Wolf. Though definitely darker. It was just a perfect episode okay. AND COACH NEXT EP. I MISSED YOU COACH.

I’m less excited about this week’s Fosters though. I might write a rant about it actually. I do like that Jesus is finally getting a storyline that doesn’t involve a girl (HALLELUJAH) though um. Why did he get a job that easily. It literally went like this:

Jesus: I want a job
Guy in charge of the construction site: OK, go help that guy

Um. What. He did ask for his age, but do you seriously immediately believe him when he says he’s 18? (which he’s not by the way, if you don’t watch the show). Why aren’t you asking him to show his ID? Why aren’t you asking for his medical records? Why aren’t you interviewing him? For a show that has such important messages and gets a lot of things right, this was so hilarious and unrealistic. I’m mostly unexcited about what they’re doing to my baby Mariana, but I’ll leave that for my possible rant (I’m liking the idea of writing about it more and more, because I’m really upset)

On another note I finished Pinocchio and it put me in a Kdrama slump. I DON’T WANT TO WATCH ANYTHING NEW I’M NOT READY YET

GUYS I HAVE ONE WEEK LEFT BEFORE I’M STARTING JOURNALISM AND I’M EXCITED AND SCARED

Anyway, what happened this week?

whatiread

  • This was a slow reading week for me. I finally finished The Young Elites and it was okay. It took so long for things to get interesting!
  • I started The Warlock (fifth book in The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series) and am enjoying it so far. I had to look up summaries of the first four books since it’s been so long since I read those, but now at least I remember what has happened so far!

personal

I translated quite a bit of my WIP this week, though not as much as I would’ve liked.

TEEN WOLF OH MY GOD NO DON’T DO THIS TO ME

The Fosters mid-season finale though. Spoilers in white: DID WE SIRIUSLY GET A HAPPY FINALE OH MY GOD. I mean, okay Jonnor might break up (so not okay with that), but nothing majorly bad happened!! Also not sure how I feel about the new Jesus (I was so confused: ‘Who’s that. What Jesus? That’s not- Okay so we have a new Jesus’ I had no idea Jesus was coming back! I guess I missed that). I guess I’m still used to Jake T. Austin, but we’ll see what he’s like in 3B!

On Thursday I went to see Paper Towns with a friend. Getting there was terrible, as I hadn’t realised how busy it would be thanks to Sail! (If you don’t know what that is, it has something to do with boats. Somehow I managed to miss this events in my 18 years of living in Amsterdam). I barely got on time (which was really funny as it’s usually my friend who’s late haha!) and thankfully we were still allowed to buy tickets and go in. I won’t go into details, or this post will get really long, but I absolutely loved it. They made some minor changes, but they didn’t affect the plot too much and most of them I actually liked (like Angela getting screen-time). The cast all did a fantastic job portraying their characters and they had great chemistry with each other. One of my favourite adaptations, that’s for sure!

I slept over at my friends and we caught up on Pretty Little Liars (no spoilers please, we still have five episodes until the 6A finale). Of course we also talked a lot.

The next day we continued our Pretty Little Liars marathon (actually we went to bed at 3 AM so we continued it the same day haha. I had a really weird dream by the way, about Pretty Little Liars…) and baked muffins with chocolate chips!

Oh I also rewatched The Jungle Book (first time in English since I grew up with most Disney films in Dutch) and was very disturbed to find out Kaa and Winnie the Pooh had the same voice actor (I’M NOT OKAY THAT MY FAVOURITE BEAR HAS THE SAME VOICE AS THAT CREEPY SNAKE OKAY)

I spy with my little eye… Some interesting blog posts!

That was another week! There’s only one week of August left- EEP. Which means I really need to post my first Amsterdam post since I promised the series would start this month. I STILL DON’T HAVE A NAME THOUGH. If you have any suggestions, let me know!
Anyway, how was your week? Let me know in the comments!
