The Weekly Hufflepuff #29

I can’t believe my first week of my last term of my first year of journalism is already over? I only have nine weeks left.ย Nineย *cue freak-out*. This last term will definitely be fun and interesting, but also exhausting. I only posted twice this week, and one of them was scheduled. I haven’t read any blog posts. I hate being behind and I love sharing blog posts with you guys every week, but sadly I have none to share this time.

I finally finished Hollow City. It took me a while since I was really busy and it’s slower than the first one. Once I’ve finished Library of Souls (which I have started) I hope to review the entire trilogy

It was the start of the new term this week and boy was it immediately busy. This term I have ‘Foreign Affairs’, ‘PaduaTV’ (as you can guess from the title, we’re making television) and ‘Research’. So far all the subjects are interesting and the teachers are friendly, fun and good at teaching. We already had to make our first item this week, so on Wednesday we all went out in pairs to make them. I felt so professional carrying the equipment and holding a microphone in my hand haha. It was a lot of fun and thankfully the weather was nice as well.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned the Ace Attorney anime on here yet, but so far I really love it. It gets better with every episode and it’s just so much fun. It’s very possible that I’m biased though haha.

I saw The Jungle Book yesterday and it was amazing! It was so beautifully made and I often forgot that they filmed everything in the studio and that none of the animals are real haha. Neel Sethi was great as Mowgli and I hope this is the start of a great career. I really recommend it.

Though I’m still sad that the vultures weren’t in it.

How’s school going for you guys? Or if you’re no longer in school, how’s work? And have you seen The Jungle Book yet? Let me know in the comments!

The Jungle Book Tag

Hey guys! So I don’t know when the live action The Jungle Book comes out in your country, but it came out in The Netherlands today, so to celebrate I decided (after checking if there wasn’t one already) to create a book tag!

I’m going to try to choose only one book/book series for each question, let’s see how that will go!

The Bare Necessities –
A book that makes you forget about your worries and your strife

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell makes me happy just thinking about it, and while reading it I definitely forgot about my worries and strife (especially considering I was reading it during exam period haha).

I Wanna Be Like You – A character that you want to be like

Izzy from Shadowhunters.ย Kind of cheating here, but hey it’s a book adaptation, and while I love book!Izzy, I love show!Izzy even more and think she’s such an inspiring young woman.

That’s What Friends Are For –
Fictional friends that you wish were part of your own friend group

I’m saving Harry Potter for a different question, so instead of saying the Golden Trio, I’m going with the Rampion Crew. I would love to travel with them through space or on Earth, or you know, start a revolution.

My Own Home – A book that no matter what, always feels like home

I think it will surprise no one when I say Harry Potter.

Trust In Me – A character you would trust with your life

‘A character you would trust with your life’ I make up for the song sung by a creepy snake (I kid you not he still creeps me out. So does Shere Khanย ๐Ÿ™ˆ). Anyway,ย I would definitely trust Annabeth Chase *nods*

YOU! Whoever is excited for The Jungle Book and wants to do it.

Have you seen the new Jungle Book yet? I’m going to see it this Saturday and can’t wait. What is your favourite Jungle Book song? Let me know in the comments!

The Weekly Hufflepuff #3

Anyway, what happened this week?

  • This was a slow reading week for me. I finally finished The Young Elites and it was okay. It took so long for things to get interesting!
  • I started The Warlock (fifth book in The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel series) and am enjoying it so far. I had to look up summaries of the first four books since it’s been so long since I read those, but now at least I remember what has happened so far!

I translated quite a bit of my WIP this week, though not as much as I would’ve liked.

The Fosters mid-season finale though. Spoilers in white: DID WE SIRIUSLY GET A HAPPY FINALE OH MY GOD. I mean, okay Jonnor might break up (so not okay with that), but nothing majorly bad happened!! Also not sure how I feel about the new Jesus (I was so confused: ‘Who’s that. What Jesus? That’s not- Okay so we have a new Jesus’ I had no idea Jesus was coming back! I guess I missed that).ย I guess I’m still used to Jake T. Austin, but we’ll see what he’s like in 3B!

On Thursday I went to see Paper Towns with a friend. Getting there was terrible, as I hadn’t realised how busy it would be thanks to Sail! (If you don’t know what that is, it has something to do with boats. Somehow I managed to miss this events in my 18 years of living in Amsterdam). I barely got on time (which was really funny as it’s usually my friend who’s late haha!) and thankfully we were still allowed to buy tickets and go in. I won’t go into details, or this post will get really long, but I absolutely loved it. They made some minor changes, but they didn’t affect the plot too much and most of them I actually liked (like Angela getting screen-time). The cast all did a fantastic job portraying their characters and they had great chemistry with each other. One of my favourite adaptations, that’s for sure!

I slept over at my friends and we caught up on Pretty Little Liars (no spoilers please, we still have five episodes until the 6A finale). Of course we also talked a lot.

The next day we continued our Pretty Little Liars marathon (actually we went to bed at 3 AM so we continued it the same day haha. I had a really weird dream by the way,ย about Pretty Little Liars…) and baked muffins with chocolate chips!

Oh I also rewatched The Jungle Book (first time in English since I grew up with most Disney films in Dutch) and was very disturbed to find out Kaa and Winnie the Pooh had the same voice actor (I’M NOT OKAY THAT MY FAVOURITE BEAR HAS THE SAME VOICE AS THAT CREEPY SNAKE OKAY)

I spy with my little eye… Some interesting blog posts!

That was another week! There’s only one week of August left- EEP. Which means I really need to post my first Amsterdam post since I promised the series would start this month. I STILL DON’T HAVE A NAME THOUGH. If you have any suggestions, let me know!
Anyway, how was your week? Let me know in the comments!
