My WIP As Incorrect Quotes And Memes // What Do You Mean I Could Use This Time To Write Instead THIS IS A LOT MORE FUN AND LESS STRESSFUL OK

As I’m pretty close to finishing my current WIP, what better way to spend my time than making a ‘incorrect quotes’ post? ‘Actually finishing the thing’, you say? Pff don’t be silly!

Also I guess you can say there are kind of spoilers in here, especially for the main romance but? 1) honestly the main romance is probably obvious for the reader once you start the book 2) who knows if this ever even gets published? 3) if it DOES get published who will remember this post 4) I wanted to include these quotes/memes ok pls let me

OH! If you’re wondering where some of these are coming from… I mean you could ask but there’s a 9/10 chance I have no idea as I just looked at tumblr and the like and they often don’t cite a source so sorry sdkj I only know the John Mulaney and the memes (though to be fair maybe the ones I don’t know are memes too?? who knows) But if you really want to know I’m sure that if you google it you’ll find it? That’s how I found out lots of times

Yong-sun An is worried about a lot of things, but at the top of his list? The future. Worried his anxiety will get in the way of everything he does, he has no clue what he’ll do after graduation. If he even graduates. Because that’s another thing he worries about. Not that his grades are bad, far from it, but one time it’s bound to go wrong, right?

Meanwhile, his not-best friend (except he is his best friend) Drew suddenly starts to act weird. Yong-sun has no idea how to help, but he has a feeling that it has to do with the mysterious text messages Drew has been getting.

Drew: looking back, I have no regrets.

Yong-sun: You should.

Yong-sun: I would like to propose…

Drew: *eyes widens*

Yong-sun: …an idea.

Drew: *disappointed* oh.

Someone: are you nervous?

Yong-sun and Hye-su: About what? But yeah.

Hye-su: I have edge.

Reyna: you really don’t. You are literally the most wide eyed person I ever seen, you have the face of a lamb.

Drew: I like you

Yong-sun: Unrealistic. Unbelievable. Lies. False.

Reyna: I am very small, and I have no money.

Reyna: so you can imagine the kind of stress I’m under.

Hye-su is also very small but she knows how to save money, meanwhile Reyna:

Drew: well, I guess you could say that “I’ve fallen for you”

Yong-sun: you just fell down seven flights of stairs, how are you even alive-

Reyna: if you had ten chocolate cookies and someone takes half of them away, what will they have?

Drew: a broken hand.

Drew: Yong-sun is on holiday with his parents in Seoul so while he’s gone I’m gonna cut the sleeves off of all my shirts

Hye-su: why???

Drew: he’s pretty much 85% of my impulse control

Yong-sun’s dad: I’m gonna do it.

Yong-sun: no please.

Yong-sun’s dad: I’m- I’m gonna.

Yong-sun: DAD

Yong-sun’s dad:

Yong-sun:

Yong-sun’s dad: YEET.

basically the popcorn scene if Yong-sun’s mom hadn’t woken up

Reyna: oh so when crows remember people who wronged them and hold grudges, it’s “intelligent” and “really cool”.

Reyna: but when I do it I’m “petty” and “need to let it go.”

Reyna: how’s the most beautiful person in the world doing today?

Hye-su: I don’t know how are yo-

Drew: *from across the room* I’M DOING GREAT THANKS.

Drew: I ain’t talking.

Reyna: we have ways of making people talk *cuts a piece of cake*

Drew: can I have some?

Reyna: cake is for talkers.

Drew: When have I done anything rash or irresponsible?

Yong-sun: I keep a list. it’s alphabetised.

Yong-sun: are you flirting with me?

Drew: have been for the past year thanks for noticing

basically THE MEME that sums up the main romance dsnjbgh

Yes I made my own meme because I’m extra like that

Drew: *about the Colosseum* it’s kind of underwhelming :/

Hye-su:

Hye-su: time to die

* not an incorrect quote, Drew literally says that and this is basically Hye-su’s face I know this is technically ‘polite cat’ but honestly it also looks like its screaming on the inside??

There’s a good chance I might do a part two at some point and there’s DEFINITELY a John Mulaney-themed one on the way, but this is it for now before I get carried away dsjbg I just really love incorrect quotes ok?

Anyway I hope this was a fun way for you to get to know my characters a little better? Also I’m honestly thinking of turning this into a tag? So if you want to do this consider yourself tagged. The rules are very simple:

Your WIP In Gifs Tag!

me: *has no energy or time to write because of essays and stress*
me: when you DO find the time and energy you have to write your review ok!!
me: ok
me: *ends up writing this post instead*

uhhhh so yeah i have no excuse?? This idea popped into my head last week but I had no time and energy to blog (thus why I disappeared, which I kind of saw happening because once I start to stress I just,, drop everything else in my life and focus on that one thing which is usually school which I really hate and want to change about myself because I love blogging) so now that I finally did have time and energy?? Yeah I wanted to put it into a post I was really excited about. That said, I really need to write that review because the book came out on Thursday and I feel like a bad blogger woops

ANYWAY. I looked around the Internet to see if this didn’t exist yet and couldn’t find anything so here we are! This tag is fairly simple: you answer the questions with gifs. So let’s get started!

The Rules

💛 Thank the person who tagged you
💛 Credit the creator of this tag (me!) and link back to this post so I can find out allll about your WIPs!
💛 Try to limit the amount of gifs you use per question – I’d say maybe stick to five or less but I’m not the boss of you

Sum up your WIP in 4 gifs

Bonus:

This… is not just an excuse for me to use gay gifs… why would you think that…

Time to introduce your main characters!

Yong-sun

an accurate representation of Yong-sun during senior year

Basically Yong-sun is a combination of Chidi and Amy

Drew

this gif is PERFECT because drew likes to think he’s all tough and ready to fight but in reality he’s just a smol cute bean who couldn’t hurt a fly

the true otp of my wip: drew + food

Reyna

fun fact i picture cierra ramirez as reyna so double win

if you don’t watch b99 first of what are you doing with your life y are you even reading this post just leave my blog and go watch b99 ok second the context of this gif is that she’s told to be careful because that sauce is hot

Reyna is that friend who will immediately text you a ‘like my post’ message

Hye-su

Hye-su most of the time

Hye-su when someone says things like ‘that’s not art’ or ‘i could do that’

How would your main character react in a crisis?

Actually this is Yong-sun all the time so

If you were to meet your main characters, how would you react?

And if you were to meet your antagonist?*

* No I did not include these questions so I could do this meme?? Don’t be ridiculous

Is there any romance in your WIP? How would you sum it up in gifs?

I mean,, this is it. For almost the entire book. At first the flirting is subtle, but then,, Romeo and Juliet gets quoted and the other person is still like,,

How do other characters feel about this ship?

How do you want people to react reading your WIP?

All Hallows Write Tag | My Characters Prepare For Halloween… A Year Early?

I saw this fun tag on Kat @ Life and Other Disasters’ blog and even though Halloween is long over and Christmas is around the corner, I just knew I had to do it. Not just is it fun, but it’s also a way to get to know your characters better.

RULES

💛 Provide a short description of your story!
💛 Don’t use the same character for more than 3 answers! <– I’m probably not going to stick to this rule, since I’ll mostly answer with my main four

DESCRIPTION OF MY WIP

Yong-sun An is worried about a lot of things, but at the top of his list? The future. Worried his anxiety will get in the way of everything he does, he has no clue what he’ll do after graduation. If he even graduates. Because that’s another thing he worries about. Not that his grades are bad, far from it, but one time it’s bound to go wrong, right?

Meanwhile, his not-best friend (except he is his best friend) Drew suddenly starts to act weird. Yong-sun has no idea how to help, but he has a feeling that it has to do with the mysterious text messages Drew has been getting.

Okay so it’s not complete, because I want to mention Reyna and Hye-su and just the overal theme of friendship, but hey I went from this:

‘Friendship, banter, food, karaoke, The Gay™, Dora the Explorer Discourse (I’m not even joking I really hope people will find this very very long scene as hilarious as I do lmao)’

Anyway it’s very light and fluffy though it tackles some more serious issues like anxiety, bullying and abusive parents too.

To the first paragraph. LOOK AT ME FINALLY BEING ABLE TO SUMMARISE/WRITE A BLURB FOR MY WIP. I say I’ve improved.

If you want to know more about my characters and see some pretty aesthetics* read this post.

* If I do say so myself

QUESTIONS

It’s Halloween night! What is your protagonist dressed up as?

Actually, there is a Halloween scene and one of Yong-sun’s friends, Reyna, has the idea to all dress up in Hogwarts uniforms. She sorted all of them* and Yong-sun wears a Hufflepuff uniform. Though it was Reyna’s idea, he does love Harry Potter** so he’s fine with it. Plus it’s not embarrassing nor something that sounds out much, so perfect for his anxiety.

Yong-sun isn’t really that creative when it comes to costumes, so for future Halloweens he’d ask Reyna or one of his other friends for advice again.

* Actually I did duh
** I wonder if I’ll ever be able to write a character that doesn’t at least like Harry Potter. And by that I mean a character who isn’t an antagonist or villain

Who in your cast refuses to dress up and shows up at the Halloween party without a costume?

I can’t imagine any of the main four refusing to dress up, so I guess for this one I’ll go with my antagonist, who I finally named a while ago! I was done with writing [antagonist] all the time so after a year* I finally named him. Well, actually I asked my friend for help. She suggested Luke** and I turned that into Lucas. So Lucas would definitely refuse to dress up because that’s ‘childish‘. He’ll get into it once he’s in college though, but his costumes will be pretty problematic.

* I think it was over a year actually
** ‘Are you saying Luke because of Percy Jackson’ ‘Yes’

Which character wears the most outrageous costume, and what would it be?

So all four of them wear Hogwarts uniforms in the WIP, but if anyone would wear something outrageous, it would be Reyna. Drew is a close second, but I think Reyna’s costume would be more ‘outrageous’. Outrageous as in some people would not be amused because her costume would call out some form of discrimination. And of course she’d make a vlog about it.

On Halloween, werewolves, vampires, and zombies are on the prowl. Which of your characters gets caught in their clutches, and which creature do they subsequently turn into?

I feel like this would be Drew. He’d do something stupid and somehow get turned.

I can definitely see him as a werewolf, and not just because I picture Daniel Sherman as Drew and he played Isaac on Teen Wolf. I just can’t picture Drew’s personality on a vampire or a zombie, as silly as that may be because it’s not like a vampire would go ‘hmm, nah, I won’t suck your blood you’re better suited to be a werewolf’. Though I can imagine a supernatural being like ‘nope not turning this one don’t want to be stuck with this for an eternity’ since Drew can be quite annoying haha

Who wins the contest for best costume?

Hye-su, hands down. She has the advantage of having a costume designer as a dad, so her costume would look really professional. The Hogwarts uniforms they all wear in the WIP were also designed by her dad.

"Linda, 'it's no wonder that her name means beauty.' I'm writing this as I stay at my mom's home, recovering from an unexpected hospital trip, and I struggle to put into words how incredible my mother truly is. Since I've been here, she has anticipated my every need, down to even the most seemingly inconsequential things that mean the world to me. This morning, she came into my room and asked if I needed a notebook and pen, just because she knows I love to write, especially when going through something difficult. I had been feeling so alone, and that felt like such a small but profound, tender mercy and gift to me. It is so astounding to have that in your life, a mother like mine. Someone who just understands you, attuned to your needs before you even ask, who is always there to remind you of the beautiful and special daughter of God you truly are. And because she is always there to remind me of my beauty, I wanted this opportunity to remind her of her own. From the first time we see her face, our mother is the most precious thing we know. The beauty between mother and child is so deep, it reaches even beyond the surface of our faces and touches our very soul. With nine children, she is consistently going back and forth, trying to give all of herself to make sure no one slips through the cracks or gets left behind. She selflessly does this for us, and she selflessly cared for her mother, who passed away when my own mom was still in high school. Throughout her life, she has remained resilient, yet kind, and especially, beautiful, inside and out. I can't think of any more perfect queen than Belle to pay tribute to my own queen mother." -Bethanie, about mother, Linda Credit: Photography @tonyross001 Hair @royalenchantments Makeup @audryfoote Models my beautiful wife @bethaniegarcia And my even more beautiful mother in law @linwadley11 😅 dress @designerdaddy_ Location @utstatecapitol

Who hands out toothbrushes to the trick and treaters?

Ohh this is a tough one. I’ve been putting this question off, because I just don’t know? I can’t imagine any of the main four do that. I did consider Lucas at first, because I thought ‘he would be that evil’* but then I realised people who hand out toothbrushes think they’re doing a good thing and care about kids’ teeth and Lucas would never.

* I was thinking from a kid’s perspective because let’s be honest,, I’m still a big kid

Which two of your characters decide to pair up and do an angel/devil costume together?

I can definitely see Drew finding this a hilarious idea and convincing Yong-sun to do this, but the costumes would be low-key way. He also convinces him to be the devil while he’s the angel, because he loves that everyone would expect it to be the other way around.

I imagine Drew’s costume to be like Hikaru and Kaoru’s. Yong-sun’s would be similar but no wings and a devil horns’ headband on instead. Definitely no tail

Someone is too scared to even attend the Halloween party. Who is it?

Both Yong-sun and Hye-su hands down. They both have anxiety so parties?? Especially ones that are MEANT to be scary?? Double the scare no thanks

Who overdoses on Halloween candy and ends up sick?

Drew, no doubt. He’s like a little kid during Halloween and wants ALL THE CANDY

Yong-sun is the oldest sister in the back*

* I don’t remember the names of these characters woops

Which character is most likely to place a curse/hex on someone and who would they curse?

Reyna would definitely lose her temper and curse/hex anyone being offensive. Lucas would be at the top of her list if she knew what he was up to. Reyna would be like book! Ginny and her temper

Reyna hexing everyone in her mind

TAG YOU’RE IT

I won’t tag anyone in specific, but if like me you believe time is an illusion and you just want to do a fun tag, consider yourself tagged!

Does your WIP or any of your past WIPs have a Halloween scene? Would your characters dress up?   Would they hand out tootbrushes? Would you? Let me know in the comments!

The Weekly Hufflepuff #62 | I’m In a Blogging Slump????

Haha so yeah, I’m sort of in a blogging slump? Which I honestly didn’t expect would happen, considering usually my blogging slumps are caused by the exhaustion and stress of school. But I don’t have school? And I’ve been feeling pretty relaxed most days?

Yet, I haven’t felt like blogging these past two weeks. There were a few days where I wasn’t feeling that great (stupid cold) or wasn’t really feeling well mentally, but there were other days where I was feeling pretty great and I was in such a creative mood – just not a creative mood for blogging? I’ve been working on my photography and even writing (!!), but I just didn’t have the energy, motivation or inspiration to blog. Which has been pretty weird. I’m afraid that soon I’ll fall out of love with blogging, but I’m just going to try and listen to my heart. If I feel like blogging (like today!), I’ll blog. If I don’t, I won’t, because otherwise I’m seriously worried it will start to feel like a chore and before you know it I’ll be in an even worse blogging slump. Sooo while originally I wanted a schedule of two posts a week plus my weekly wrap up, I’m not sure if that will happen? But we’ll see

ANYWAY let’s wrap up these last two weeks

I started Vengeance Road sometime at the start of the month, and at first I thought it would be a pretty quick read, but… I dunno? It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t exactly blow me away either. I guess I also had some other expectations? If everything goes according to plan I’ll be writing my review later today, so it should be up sometime this week.

I also finally finished Karina’s Silver Shoes, which really took me a while. I’ve already reviewed this one, so I won’t get into that much detail, but boy was this one a disappointment.

I was in the mood to reread The Upside of Unrequited, which I’ve been meaning to do for a while. I still can’t believe I didn’t catch the Simon vs references the first time around? Sure, it had been over a year since I read Simon, but??? Simon is literally mentioned by his name??

I also read some comics like usual: caught up on Ms. Marvel, Lumberjanes and America, finally continued DC Bombshells (I love this comic I don’t understand why I’m so slow) and read some more Runaways volumes because the show really made me want to continue. I’m not sure if I’ll read the other volumes after Vaughn’s run though. I really hated Joss Whedon’s volume and the next ones don’t seem that great either. I’m tempted to just skip to Rainbow Rowell’s new issues.

So I’ve really been enjoying my time off! Well minus my cold and the days my mental health wasn’t that great, but other than that? Boy this break has been a blessing. I mean I’ve even been writing?? But I’ll get into that later, because I can actually include a writing section in this wrap up.

Like I said above, I’ve also been working on my photography. And trying to post more on my photography Instagram account haha. Speaking of which…

* Cheeky self-promo there

The other day my friend came over to hold a photoshoot, but we also just hung out, since we hadn’t seen each other since last term (not that that was that long ago and we do talk every day through imessage, but still haha). It was a lot of fun, but I was still a bit ill so spending so much time outside in the cold was a bit too much haha.

Last week I was sick of staying inside, so I decided to go to the Rijksmuseum. I didn’t know what kind of temporary exhibitions were on, so I decided to check them out while I was there. One of them was about being stateless in The Netherlands which was really beautiful (though not something I needed when I really didn’t want to cry with my stuffy nose!) and the other one was about Matthijs Maris, a Dutch artist who I had never heard of but it was really interesting and inspiring! There was another one, I’m not sure about what, but one look and I knew it wasn’t my thing haha. After those temporary exhibitions I spend some time in the regular collection, but soon I started to feel ill again so it was time to go home.

Oh! I’m  also slowly getting grades back from last term and so far so good! 🙆🏻

Also I’m now OFFICIALLY accepted at the university in Manchester for my term abroad! I’ll be studying history for my minor and thankfully they can provide me with a dorm during my stay. I’m still super anxious about it, but at least all of this is now settled

Like I said: I’ve been writing! Last week I decided to print everything I’ve written so far for my WIP (my Camp NaNo project of the past two years, I’ve talked about it in more details here), something I’ve wanted to do for weeks now, but couldn’t because

So I FINALLY printed everything out, started to reread, make notes and everything and now, even though I haven’t finished my first draft yet, started on my second draft. Maybe I should’ve finished my first draft first, but this is motivating me to actually write so I’m going with it.

I’ve also been working on plot holes and the like, and I’ve been working on my outline, as I had never figured out what would happen next and how things would exactly end. I’ve made a timeline of when everything’s supposed to happen and I’m so excited to write again

Though I’m also really sad and kinda scared to actually finish this thing??

Though I’m also already thinking of a sort of sequel/companion novel when this one isn’t even done yet haha

💛 I talked about where I’ve been, what I’ve been up to and explained that I’m taking a break from school
💛 I reviewed Swan Song, a book about overcoming your grief, finding yourself and ballet
💛 I shared a recipe of how to make your own writer in case your stuck and want someone else to take over for you

I’m pretty behind on blog posts, and I don’t mind at all? I’ve bookmarked quite a few posts that I wanted to read, but I’m very tempted to just delete them all and start over, because boy am I never going to have the time to read them all and read all the new posts coming out all the time as well. Anyway, I don’t think any of these were actually posted during these past two weeks? I’m not sure, but hey old posts deserve some love too!

When You No Longer Like Your Plot, But Your Characters Own Your Heart

Hello my name is Michelle and I have a problem. I hate the plot of one of my WIPs, but I can’t let go

I really wish this was me, but alas

Once upon a time, when I was 13 (or 12??), I came up with the most original plot of ever, namely two teenagers DESTINED. FATED. CHOSEN. to prevent the devil from returning to earth and fighting demons. BASICALLY IT WAS A BUFFY THE VAMPIRE RIP OFF. Instead of Watchers and the Watchers Council it had Guardians and the Council of Guardians/Guardians Council whatever. The Watcher Guardian that looked over my main two characters (who were called ‘The Chosen Ones’. So clever. So unique. Much originality) was basically a Rupert Giles rip off (to the point that I  pictured Anthony Head as the character lmao). Oh and he was the librarian at the school (if you’re not familiar with Buffy: Giles was the librarian at the school as well lmao) for no apparent reason?? When I rewrote it he just worked at the Council, which actually made sense, but still.

It started out as a rip off. I’m not saying everything was exactly like Buffy, but the similarities were there, which I didn’t notice when I first wrote it because I was young and naive and unknowingly inspired by which was back then my favourite tv show of ever.

I finished the book when I was about 14 I think? Or maybe still 13? I have terrible memory

And started to work on the second one, which I never finished because at some point I decided to rewrite the first one, since I wasn’t too happy with it. In the end, I wasn’t happy with that rewrite either, and started to rethink everything. Character backgrounds, plot points, overal plot, relationships… Everything.

And now I look at the mess I made when I was 13 (because it wasn’t just a rip off, it was also full with plot holes and tropes I absolutely loathe now and just… ugh) and I just no longer like it.

Except. I really love the characters. I love their backgrounds, their relationships with each other, the development I was going to make them go through… I am really attached.

I’m ready to let go of the plot, but not of these characters

So now what?

Because I have no clue

have thought of coming up with a new plot, and keeping these characters, but what kind of plot? Should I stick to (urban) fantasy? Or choose a different genre? And then what? Will they still be the same characters? Because a different plot (and possibly a different genre) means changes to their background stories and the development I had planned. I AM LOST.

If any of you thought this was going to be a helpful post full with tips on how to deal with this I am truly sorry. Instead this is me getting this of my chest, crying for help and hoping I’m not the only one.

Anyone been/going through this? Any advice? Or should we all start a support group together where we cry and eat ice cream? Let me know in the comments!

The Writer’s Tag | Where I Talk About My WIP (Sort Of – I Tried)

Since it’s NaNoWriMo (and this blog technically is also a writing blog) I’ve been on the lookout for some fun writing tags. Thus I found The Writer’s Tag on Head in the Clouds.

What genres, styles, and topics do you write about?

Mostly fantasy, though my current WIP (like the one I’m trying to focus on instead of all the others) is a contemporary. I’m also planning a detective series though.

I’ve found that I often focus a lot on friendship, no matter the genre. I just have a soft spot for friendship and definitely prefer it to romance (though I do love my ships). Some other topics I often write about are anxiety, loss, grief, PTSD, family, corruption and discovering yourself. There’s probably more but my mind is drawing a blank haha.

How long have you been writing?

This may sound cliché but it’s true: as long as I can remember. I can’t pinpoint an exact moment when I started writing, nor do I remember what my first story was. I’ve just been making up stories and characters as long as I remember.

Why do you write?

Because I can

Because I love how I can immerse myself in all these exciting worlds and do whatever I want.

Because I can express myself and my feelings throughout my stories and characters.

Because I’ve always had trouble expressing myself through speech, so I feel so free when I can write my words down

Because I love it

When is the best time to write?

Whenever I can, and when I say can when my mind is in the right place and I’m not too exhausted. School can drain all of my creativity out of me which makes it hard to write during the school year. Other than that, time of day doesn’t really matter.

What parts of writing do you love and hate?

I love the excitment when you come up with a fun new idea, when everything comes together and you can picture your world and characters, when you reach that stage where you feel like you know your characters in and out, when you figure out how to fix an annoying plot hole, when inspiration (finally) strikes and how the world seems to fall away when you’re writing.

I hate that my mind keeps coming up with new exciting ideas when I still need to finish other stories, I hate when I come up with great ideas/scenes/lines/etc when I’m lying in my bed trying to sleep, I hate how school and life in general can get in the way of writing and just suck all of your creativity out of you and obviously I hate writer’s block (related to the previous one, but I can still get writer’s block when school and life aren’t getting in the way of course).

How do you overcome writer’s block?

I probably don’t? I usually get writing’s block during the school year and I have no idea what to do. I’m so stressed and exhausted that I can’t get myself to write, even though there are times that I want to (and actually have the time). So sorry no wise advice from me haha

Are you working on something at the moment?

I am! I’m working on my contemporary WIP that was my Camp NaNo project last year and this year as well. I’m having a lot of trouble summarising/explaining it without giving too much away so here’s my summary on my NaNo page: ‘Friendship, banter, food, karaoke, The Gay™, Dora the Explorer Discourse (I’m not even joking I really hope people will find this very very long scene as hilarious as I do lmao)’

Yes there’s is Dora the Explorer Discourse. And it takes up several pages. I should be ashamed of that shouldn’t I

I’m not thoughAnyway it’s very light and fluffy though it tackles some more serious issues like anxiety, bullying and abusive parents too.

Other than that I’m always planning and thinking of other stories. Like just two days ago I started planning a new novel (*whispers* send help). Like I mentioned before I’m planning a detective series, there’s still my urban fantasy series The Chosen Ones that I’m planning all over again because I’m not satisfied with it at all), a superheroes story (might be a series) and a retelling (standalone contemporary). And about a million other ideas floating around in my head

What are your writing goals this year?

Just write more in general. But also finish my Camp NaNo project. Not necessarily this month (that’s definitely not going to happen with the way my month is going), but I really want to finally finish it so I can start working on other projects

I TAG

Whoever wants to do this!

What are you currently working on? And what are your goals? Also any tips on how to deal with writer’s block? Let me know in the comments!

Sharing 7 Lines From the WIP

Back in 2015 I did the 777 Challenge. Though I wasn’t tagged in it this time, I thought I’d bring it back because 1) I barely talk about writing on here anymore and this blog needs to live up to its name and 2) it’s NaNoWriMo so what better time than to share some lines!

In this challenge you have to share seven lines from the seventh page of (one of) your WIP(s) and then tag 7 bloggers. This year I’m working on the same contemporary novel as last year, as school got in the way and I never got around to working on it. I really hope that this year I’ll be able to finish it. Fingers crossed!

Wow I forgot that the reason it’s called 777 challenge because you have to share seven lines from the seventh page of your WIP. I just chose some lines  I liked woops haha. While I would’ve liked to share that snippet, I’m going to stick to the rules so here are seven lines from the seventh page:

I don’t know about you but besides the Drew one this list is really me. Then again Yong Sun, the protagonist, is a lot like me.

I tag:

May | Kat | Eve | Charlotte | Holly | Marie | YOU!

If I tagged you don’t feel obligated to do this!

Are you participating in Camp NaNo? How’s it going? If you’re not participating, how’s the writing going anyway? Let me know in the comments!

Snippet Sunday #3

It’s actually on Sunday and not Monday like list time! *applause for me* Anyway, Snippet Sunday is an awesome feature started by Samantha and this is how you participate:

  • You share a snippet of your current work in progress or whatever else you are working on. A scene, dialogue, a whole chapter, a poem – anything goes.
  • Link your Snippet Sunday back to Samantha’s blog
  • Ta da! Snippet Sunday complete

I’ll be sharing a snippet from my contemporary WIP again. The four main characters are going to a karaoke bar to celebrate that their history presentation went well.

That was my snippet for this week! How’s the writing going? Let me know in the comments!

Snippet Sunday #2

Sssh it’s probably still Sunday SOMEWHERE in the world right? I was just too tired to post when I got home yesterday and preferred to watch some Booktube and read. It’s only a few hours late though (almost 11 but ssh). Anyway, anyway, Snippet Sunday is an awesome feature started by Samantha and this is how you participate:

  • You share a snippet of your current work in progress or whatever else you are working on. A scene, dialogue, a whole chapter, a poem – anything goes.
  • Link your Snippet Sunday back to Samantha’s blog
  • Ta da! Snippet Sunday complete

I’ll be sharing a snippet from my unnamed contemporary WIP again, which is my project for Camp NaNo. Warning: profanity. Context: they’re in a classroom.

Snippet2

I never use profanity on my blog, but it felt wrong censoring it.

And that was my snippet for this week! How’s Camp Nano going? I realise I pretty much ask this whenever I mention Nano, but I really want to know how all of you are doing and support you and wish you good luck. YOU CAN DO IT.

Snippet Sunday #1

I’ve been meaning to participate in Snippet Sunday ever since Samantha came up with the idea, but I either didn’t have the time or I forgot. Now that it’s Summer I can finally participate though!

How to participate in Snippet Sunday:

  • You share a snippet of your current work in progress or whatever else you are working on. A scene, dialogue, a whole chapter, a poem – anything goes.
  • Link your Snippet Sunday back to Samantha’s blog
  • Ta da! Snippet Sunday complete

I’ll be sharing a snippet from my unnamed contemporary wip that I mentioned in this post. I haven’t mentioned the plot anywhere yet, and I’m not going to (not yet anyway) since I’m still working on that. I’ve mostly been working on the outline, so the snippet I’ll be sharing is already a few months old and might not even make it in the final draft, but that’s something for Future!Michelle to decide.

snippet

Context: Drew is the one asking for food, Yong Sun, whose POV the book is written from, is the one answering.

Even though I haven’t written that much yet, it was hard to choose one snippet. I just love writing Yong Sun and Drew’s banter.

Are you participating in Snippet Sunday? (hint: you should) I’d love to read your snippet so leave the link in the comments! Do you love food as much as Drew does? It wouldn’t surprise me if I wrote this dialogue when I was hungry myself haha. Let me know in the comments!
